Hi everyone! Just accepted to DCP and will be arriving in January. Merchandising is my assignment. Any thoughts, advice? Anyone else accepted? Looking to make some connections!
You won't be allowed at the apartment and he will be pretty busy the entire time. Unless you plan to just sit in the hotel room or go to the parks, I would let him go by himself.
Sure, parents are allowed at the apartment on move-in day. We took DD there for DCP in January of 2018. We helped her unload her car and then told her good bye. IIRC Disney has activities for them later in the day and evening to get to know each other a bit.
DS will be doing DCP in January 2020. DW and I will do the same with him. Probably stay off site and enjoy the parks for a few days together, drop him off on his check in date, help him unload his car as needed, and then we will head on home.

Congratulations! I agree with the previous poster that you'll have more luck posting in the DCP specific section of this board but just wanted to wish you luck! I am likely biased but I always felt like merchandise was the best possible DCP assignment - no cranky hungry guests like you get at Food and Beverage and no impatient people who've waited forever in a line like in attractions. I had very few difficult guest encounters on my CP. Have fun!
