How long is the program in the summer? Like what are the months, because unfortunately I can't go during the school year because my school doesn't offer the DCP as an option for credits or with out credits. And I also go to school in FL so therefore my school year starts pretty early in August. So I was just wondering what the time length is and for what months. Thank you!

There isnt usually a summer program. Summer programs are only offered to Program alumni. 2006 was the last year of a summer program and it was only because they were struggling for people which right now is not the case.

2006 was the last year of a summer program

And even then it was limited to only a few different roles. I think QSR and custodial. Maybe Lifeguard too.

Even when they open it up to alumni, it is usually restricted to a few different roles too. They are limited on starting and end dates. Meaning that they give one or two dates and if you can't be there by then, then you can't do the program.

If I remember correctly for last year, they filled all of the alumni spots in 3-4 weeks.

I would seriously doubt that anything is open for a non-alum this summer. And I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't anything for alumni either. but we all know that Spring Advantage people will quit or get terminated anytime between now and May, so they will have empty spots to fill between May and August.

DD24 did the ICP 2 years ago fom May to late Aug? Is this the same program?
Her friend is doing it again this coming Summer, again, May to Late Aug.:confused3

The ICP is different than the CP. ICP is only for international students and the program dates are not the same as the domestic CP.

So then I can't do it because my school won't let me. I don't think that's really fair. I can't just take off a semester of school. They don't have my major so I wouldn't be getting credit anyway. Thanks everyone.

Why not do the CP right after you graduate? A lot of people do that too (I hope to do it myself in may).

I don't think that's really fair.

Remove yourself from the situation and look at from their standpoint.

1) They only have a handful of positions available on this program when it is offered. The spots they have are the people who were on the Spring Advantage program who didn't quite make it to May (either they quit or they did something to get terminated).

2) The more qualified people applying would have had some experience working in the parks and resorts already. They are the ones that can arrive and get to their work locations with no to minimal training.

So what are the options?

To open it up to the masses and have to decline a ton of people?

Or is it better for them to restrict it to former participants which allows them to filter some people out from the get go?

IMHO, and take it for nothing more than that, restricting it is probably the better decision since they would more than likely go with a CP alum anyway. Saves all parties involved time.

From another perspective:

They used to do a summer program. However, it was a very short amount of time to have people there when you had to train them from scratch. When they had people evaluate the program, the most common comment from the participants themselves is that summer was simply not enough time. This was straight from the participants. It was in response to this feedback that they eliminated the summer program for non alumni.
