I am planning on applying for the DCP for fall 2015. I am having some internal debate as to which I should apply for Disneyland or WDW. Neither parks have anything in my actual major field (diesel mechanics) I just think it will be an amazing experience. I am a Disneyland vet but never been to WDW. I love Disneyland I just heard it is harder to get into than the WDW due to the amount of people they accept. If you could share some of your experiences from either Disneyland or WDW DCP that would be amazing. Please help me to decide which one to choose.

The Walt Disney World College Program was without a doubt the most influential experience of my life. I would not be as succesful professionally as I currently am had I not spent the Spring Semester of 1999 working as a QSFB Host at All Star Sports Resort and living at Vista Way. I befriended and worked with College Students from all around the World and 15 years larter I am still friends with many of the friends I made. I learned and grew through Culture shock which led to my own world view expanding in turn changing my entire outlook on life and on business. The core values I learned by working for Disney stick with me to this day and drive almost every business realted decision that I make.

In my opinion if I were you I would apply for the WDWCP because it is my understanding that there are more College Program students including a large number from outside of the United States. I participated 15 years ago but at the time CPs were able to apply for roles in Transportation, which may be close enough to your field of study to earn the extra credits depensing on how your University/College views the Disney Collge Program. When I participated my College gave me 9 Credits but I believe the standard is between 3-6. Again that may have changed since the time I participated.

The being said I'm not familiar with the DLCP and have only vistied DL two times so my opinion is extremely biased towards Walt Disney World.

Completely and totally agree with this:

My husband and I have talked/joked that if anything were to happen to him and my daughter, I'd enroll in college again solely to apply to do the college program again. It truly is life changing. You will learn more about yourself in that one short semester than your other years at college, if your experience was anything like mine. And I grew a lot in college! That just says how much the program can grow you. And I highly recommend the WDW College Program. Through it, you will be living and working with people all over the country, but also have the experience to interact daily with international cast members. While this is also an opportunity at Disneyland, you would be less likely to meet and work with as many internationals as you will at WDW. When you graduate college and are able to tell a potential future employer that you interned at a fortune 500 company where you worked closely with international employees and interacted with people from all different cultures and backgrounds, it will look incredibly impressive. Plus,j ust like a trip to WDW is more engulfing than Disneyland, from those I have spoken to, it sounds like the internships are the same way. Those I know who did the Disneyland program enjoyed it very much, but they felt more like it was a job that they did during the day and then went back to "the real world" at night. At WDW, we always felt like we were part of the program, even when back in our apartments. WDW also has so many opportunities for the advanced internship. So, in my opinion, WDW is the way to go.

Oh, but Chatham Square is totally the place to live. Not Vista Way. ;)

:ssst: Vista Way 4 Life!!!!! :p

Agreed!!!

1998 and 1999 College Program Alum here.

Definitely the WDW version - it was life changing. I was in Transportation (drove the Friendship boats my first summer). AMAZING
