Disney Collection w/ borrowed points?

I was just looking at the rules for WDW resort stays (non-DVC) on points and it says something along the lines of "the resort stay must occur in the same use year as the points are available"

Does this mean you can't reserve Disney Collection (non-DVC resorts) with borrowed points? That doesn't seem right, but it could just be the wording confusing me.

Looking into a last minute trip and seeing what our options are with our points....we can borrow some from next year, but I'm concerned there may be no studio availability at any of the DVC properties and was thinking of the other resorts on points as an option...rather than paying cash, though I may look into that too. But if we can't borrow points for a non DVC resort stay, I guess that's one less option.

Yes you can use borrowed points to stay outside of DVC resorts. As to the wording, I guess borrowed points are available just as banked points would be too.

See my second post in This Thread Interesting that this wording is only found in the DC options and not the others.
