Some time back my DH picked up off eBay a Disney World park globe.

It has a faux wood base that says Walt Disney World and it looks like a world globe that one would find in a school but it is actually a map of WDW made of cardboard.

I was wondering if anyone knew anything "official" about it or its worth.

Thanks in advance,

April

I have one one a table in my house. There were about a thousand of these made in the early 1970's for distribution to Travel Agents who had gone through "The College of Disney Knowledge".

My late wife had managed to latch onto one in 1991 for a birthday present for me. She had been very nervous since she had paid $85 for it. When we went to the 1992 Disneyana Convention, one of them was sold in the secondary auction for $550 so then she told me how much she had paid and obviously it was a real bargain.

Wow! I'd like to have one of those!

The artwork on the globe looks very similar to the maps they used to sell in the MK in the early years of the park. I like this globe much better than the World of Knowledge globe that is frequently up for sale on ebay.

Thank you for the information Cheshire Figment. DH says he might put it on eBay to help fund our December Disney trip.

This goes for about $200 on ebay, although I havent seen one go since the recession started. Good luck, its one of my favorite things in my whole collection, sits right next to my 1971 monorail helmet :)
