Disney CM is shocked...shocked!

I spoke with Disney reservations re: our trip 9/28 - 10/5 and asked about refurbishment of Tower and Rock 'n Roll and the CM person asked if I was inquiring because of information I had read on an "illegal" disney web site. Would they actually close both at the same time!?

She was shocked- shocked - that information is shared via disney employees.

I assured her that I simply wanted to know in advance what to expect when we arrived in the parks and had a very pleasant conversation. She would confirm that August 4 reservation changes will occur to 90 days - but would not comment on any attraction refurbishment other than that on the official site.

Are they still truly unclear about the ride refurbishment schedule in the next 6-8 weeks?

What's an "illegal" disney site? I'm sure they know what they're doing with rehabs, but for some reason they don't tell the people answering the phones, and or they don't want to release the information for some reason.

 Surely she meant "unofficial" rather than "illegal" . . . . .!!!

Perhaps their reasoning for not releasing rehab info other than the web site may be their fear that some folks may cancel planned trips to visit at a different time . . . . ?????? Hmm, doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

It may be something to do with the fact that if they don't release dates, people will still turn up to ride these rides, and are unlikely to turn back at the gates to the park as a result of one or two rides being shut (whether they're the best ride in the park or not).

Additionally, if WDW decided to release official dates, and had to change them, for whatever reason, the visitors would probably get much more aggrevated than if they knew nothing of the closures in the first place.

I am, of course, talking about the average Joe WDW guest, not the hardcore elite that frequent these boards ;) :teeth:

What do you mean? We're going August 8th...does this mean I should NOT expect there to be any refurbishments going on that we don't officially know about right now?

Here is a shortcut to the "official" and "legal" page for closed attractions. I would expect they are as close to up to the minute as possible. Also, CRO is not the number to be calling for closed attraction information, they are there to make reservations.:) That number is 407-824-4321.

I can't believe that cast member, what is so hard understanding that people would post that information. Personally (and I assume this goes for 99% percent of the people out there) I would want to know what is going to be closed before I arrive.

don't mean to be picky, but your link won't work because of the < br > you've put in after it...

It's interesting how they now would classify websites like these are illegal. I'm begining to wonder after the questions I keep getting asked when I call into DC if they are trying to crack down on NON disney affliated websites. I really hope not because that would be stupid on their part.

Now as to the ride rehab I agree with some that have posted. I really do think that they don't post only because they may have to shut down a ride earlier than expected or it might still even be up although it's supposedly down. An example that I think of was Space Mountain in CA. I'm not 100% sure that it was published on the offical site to shut down in Aug. but look at what it caused after being shut down in April. I think Disney may be trying to save themselves from backlash anyway they can. I'm expecting quiet a few closuers when I go but that's just the breaks.

EDIT: It would appear that you can't link directly to the site... Go to the search box on the above link, and type in "Ride Refurbishment"

You'll get a list of parks, select the one you want, and click it.

It'll load up, and there's a little text label on the page that says "Refurbishments" - click this and it'll bring up all the scheduled refurb. work that's been made public so far.

What's there at the moment:

Q. What attractions are currently closed?

A. To provide Walt Disney World® Guests with the highest-quality experience, attraction maintenance is occasionally necessary. Please refer to the following schedule to see what attractions may be closed during all or part of your next visit. Opps, sorry about that, guess you will have to use the search feature. Wonder why it won't work, I did not add anything, I copied and pasted.

Some websites just don't allow external linking... Not sure why in this case.

I was able to get to it by clicking on "Parks and More" at the top. Then clicking on "Parks and More FAQ" in the left column. Then clicking on "What attractions are currently closed?".

I find it interesting that they talk about the Swiss Family Treehouse and Thunder Mountain, etc. but not TOT or others that I have read on the boards. Either the rumors are not true, OR the info not concrete enough for Disney to post, OR Disney is biding their time.

I'll be there 10/17-10/25 and I'm really disappointed about BTMRR and now someone is posting that Festival of the Lion King is going to be down starting 8/24. Now if they add ToT or RnR I'm definitely switching my dates! I've already got my plane tickets but we only go every 3-4 years so I feel like it would be a total waste to go and miss some of these attractions!
