We recently purchase a DVC a VWL.
Also have had a Disney Club card, formally Magic Kingdom Club, for years.
Is it worth it to keep the card, or does the DVC membership give just as much on discounts?
I have continued my Disney Club membership even though we are DVC members. Maybe it's because we were MK Gold Club members for such a long time, I hate to part with it. However, the DC still gives about a 5% discount on all admissions to the parks, while the DVC member discount is only available on the length of stay type passes. I figure since the price of the DC isn't that great, I can keep both. Guess you will have to decide if you want to spend the renewal price when it comes time to renew your DC. Happy planning and Welcome Home!
In addition to about 5% off admission (other than the DVC 10% UMP), and the DC discount off National as others said, you get the Disney Magazine with the DC.
Living in Florida, we've got access to the great Florida discounts on AP's and Seasonal passes.
Your DVC membership gets you (essentially) the same discount at the Disney stores, and now, nearly the same discount at the DD stores.
And, if you look into purchasing the DDE card for Florida residents - there's hardly ANY restaurant discounts offered with the DC card that can't be matched or beat with the DDE card.
I've had a MKC-Gold, now DC card for years - but I'm seriously considering dropping it. I find that I'm pulling it out of my wallet less and less these days. The few discounts you can get with it that we can't get with our DVC membership and DDE card are hardly worth the cost of membership.
I haven't yet decided - but just wanted to throw that at you. If I wasn't a FL resident - I would definitely keep it...
A DDE is a Disney Dining Card. It's available for Florida Residences and costs about $55 per year.
It's gives us a discount in most Disney Theme Park Resturants along with most Resort Resturants.
