Disney charging $5 for deliveries to resort??

When you used Safeway, did you just put in the address of the resort? And how early do you place or can you place your order with Safeway? I know with garden grocers, you can do it 60 days in advance. Also, will they deliver and leave with Bell Services if you aren’t at resort yet? I have used Garden Grocer but want to use Safeway this next time.

I just used the resort address and put a note to deliver to bell services at the Polynesian. I selected attended delivery even though I personally wouldn’t be there. I ordered maybe a month in advance and changed it a couple of times. Not sure how early you’re allowed to order.

I don't think it makes sense to both pay a fee and then tip $5 extra just to have them receive the package.
:confused3 The fee being paid, which is for the resort accepting the delivery, is the $5. A tip for Bell Services does not have a fixed amount, it's up to the individual guest.

Guests who don't wish to tip on top of the fee should pick up from Bell Services.

Another question....when creating account it asks for preferred store location. When I put in zip code for Wilderness Lodge, it pulled up 3 stores that were not in Orlando. What do I need to put for preferred store when registering? Thanks.

Yes. Agreed there. Any service other than being paid to receive package should be tipped.

Do you know how early you need to place an order for Safeway? For example, how many hours in advance of delivery? I was thinking of having my order ready to in the cart and placing it when I arrive at MCO. I was hoping that I could get it a couple of hours later. My flight will be arriving at MCO at 6:15pm.

I don’t, but there’s no reason to wait to submit. I suspect there wouldn’t be a delivery window available last minute.

Locations are altamonte Springs FL; Largo, FL; or Oakland Park, FL. I wonder if it matters since that is just the registration page? Or if I should try another zip code?

Try 32830. That’s the zip for Poly and I don’t remember having a choice on store.

That’s the one I’m putting in and it pulls up those stores. I may have to contac their customer support. Thanks

No idea on strollers. Medical equipment, no. Several companies pay Disney to be allowed to use Bell Services for dropoffs/pickups. Other companies meet the client at both ends of the transwction. He'll Services not involved, so no fee.

This is standard fare in the Hotel industry. Called a Room Drop Fee. You see it with large conventions when people do VIP gift drops. $5 is not bad considering some of the orders they have to handle/store/deliver, etc. I would still tip the bell services CM who actually brings it to your room...they are the one who schlepped it there.

So I guess since last trip Safeway delivered right to my room (they called me and I gave my room number), this doesn't apply. Not that $5 is a big deal, but I'm using Safeway again next month (just had them deliver to my house yesterday) and I'll just have them bring it to the room again. Worth a big tip if you ask me!

I'm planning on using Safeway too when we come in June (we are staying at POR). I've heard great things about it. Please let us know how it works out.

It was fine first time! I used Garden Grocer for MANY years, but Safeway I use at home (all the time now; especially since I have the flu or some virus right now). Safeway is so much cheaper! I will use them ALL THE TIME - I've used them at home almost every week this winter. I will def post

We had them deliver to Bell services and it was great. No issues at all.

One trip a couple had an entire bell services cart stacked with boxes. Assume about 20 since their bill was $100+. They were going nuts they had to pay for it ............. but several people had to handle all these boxes for you ............. I don't blame Disney.
So $5 per box? wow
