Got to see the show last Sat. at Hollywood Studios and I have to say it's really terrible. It's right there with Stitch's Supersonic Celebration on the fail-o-meter. My 10 year old called it a "fail". I was watching the people around the show and they were just standing there.... bored. Only reason they were standing around was they were thinking their kids might like it.

Look, they should just can the show, take down the big Sorcerer's hat, and do a classical Disney music show instead of trying to pander to young teens that hate any music that's more than 60 days old.

I haven't seen the show, but DHS is trying to rebrand itself as the Hollywood of today. So, most (if not all) of the new entertainment is going to relate to today's Disney entertainment. The classic entertainment would go back to the old DHS brand of classic Hollywood.

Not trying to change the subject of this thread, but I've been disappointed since the park was renamed and rebranded. This happened over 2 1/2 years ago and not enough has changed in the park in favor of the new branding. Pixar Place (announced before the new branding), Block Party Bash, new signage, Star Tours 2, American Idol, and Disney Channel Rocks has really been about it. That may seem like a lot, but you could argue some of these changes aren't related to the rebranding.

Fine, then why not do a Pixar music review? There are tons of great tunes in Pixar movies and the songs are better than any of the ones they played in Disney Channel Rocks. We have a Pixar CD we listen to all the time.

The thing about Pixar Place is it brings us into a happy world that we REMEMBER from the movies. And all of us remember it, not just the 8-13 year olds that are there in the audience. I'd be surprised if there were any adults in the crowd that could name ONE of the songs they were singing.

I did like the outfits the dancers were wearing. Wish I was cool enough to wear that kind of stuff.

I think they should just take down the stage and stop doing shows under the hat period. Personally I'd rather they either take down or move the hat (the icon for DHS IMO is the Earful tower anyway) but that isn't going to happen.

I have no more desire to see the current show then I did to see that High School Musical show, and I had no more desire to watch that show then to have my toes removed with a claw hammer.

Would it be too much to hope this was taken by you recently from a hot air balloon or some other flying contraption and there was no Photoshopping involved at all?

Unfotunately, my hot air balloon is still in the shop getting patchwork done. :goodvibes

I was under the impression that the name change was a business decision and had to do with Disney's relationship with MGM Studios. I hadn't heard that there was to be a rebranding towards a "Hollywood of today". In fact, I was there three times over the last four months, and each time I saw what I thought to be an unusually high number of Streetmosphere characters playing the part of Hollywood stars from yesteryear. Like you say, since the name change I've seen very little that would point to the fact that they are trying to rebrand towards being the Hollywood of today.

To the OP, I agree. I saw the show a couple weeks back and it was terrible.

The new show is simply dreadful. I looked at the crowd and no one really seemed to have any discernible vested interest.:confused3 So I'm not sure who/what the target audience is supposed to be.

I totally agree. Changes at DHS so far have been disappointing. I kind of thought it was just me though because it does seem like they have done alot, but I just don't care for most of it. The only new things I like are TSM and Pixar Place and even at that, I think they could be doing more/better with Pixar Place.

During the announcement of the name change and rebranding Meg Crofton specifically said Disney's Hollywood Studios was changing from the Hollywood of yesteryear to the Hollywood of today. We just haven's seen enough of that over the past 3 years.

We've seen so little of it that it's not even recognizable! If the only changes towards that end are the Disney Channel garbage that we're being fed, I'll take the Hollywood of Yesteryear!

Not to worry, Sounds Dangerous will be there to fill the entertainment voids :rolleyes1

Just curious. For those of you that have seen the new DCR show, what are the songs used?

I am glad to hear that others weren't thrilled with the new show. Not one person posted a negative comment when I wrote the blog and I was surprised by that. I thought I couldn't be the only one that didn't enjoy it.

The stage isn't there permanently. For Disney Channel Rocks it is a moving stage.

I'll be interested to see it when it comes to California Adventure.

Some things play here in DLR better than it WDW, such as the Pixar Parade. It just never translated well to DHS. I'll make sure to mention what we think of DCR here.

I'm guessing my 7-year-old son (who knows all the words to every Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam song) will enjoy this show....maybe we should let him do the review of the DCA version. :lmao:
