Of course I own my statements. I'm not taking anything I said back - only clarifying. I am absolutely intolerant in that I will not allow what I consider to be immoral influences in the media into my household. These people are actors/producers - with an agenda (of course). How we treat actual gay people in my family is another matter entirely. That is always done with the same respect everyone else gets.
"Gay people exist, and they have personalities just like everyone else."
"Plus-Size people exist, and they have personalities just like everyone else."
Interesting how, if you take statements like this:
And change it to this:
You get a thread like this:
Plus-Size Princesses
I think i can agree with one thing you stated, please see the bold part in your post.
What's the agenda? Everything doesn't always have an agenda, that argument is overused in society.
I guess the "agenda" was to represent what the real world looks like, not how some people want to paint it, or hide it from their children.
You're entitled to your opinion, but I am as well.
I'm just gonna drop this link off right here and merely say that this is why we need to cultivate a more accepting and tolerant culture in the US:
Shocking death threat to 5 year old actress after her Disney TV show featured lesbian moms
chipnDale79, I think your post hits upon an interesting idea. There are many people who have an agenda to either hide the fact that homosexuality exists or to present it as being a dangerous and harmful lifestyle. any time there is an attempt to show a homosexual relationship is a positive light results in an attack of some type from people with such an agenda. I think the only "agenda" Disney displayed is to show courage and stand up to people with the anti-homosexual agenda I just described. Anyway, thanks for the interesting post. All the best.
I think that all weighs a lot on how the person presents themselves as well. There is a major difference between those that mind their own business and get attacked for their lifestyle, and people who go around parading that they are gay and proud and get criticized. If I went into work and exclaimed details of my sex life to my coworkers, I would probably not receive a positive response either...and my boss would likely tell me to keep it to myself. It's just not something you should expect to be able to tell the public and not get all kinds of responses over.

No one going to get upset when a newly engaged individual comes to work... showing off an engagement ring... talking about the proposal... wedding plans... honeymoon plans... as long as they are in a heterosexual relationship.
When a gay individual does the exact same thing... no more or no less... to many it is flaunting their sexuality and "parading that they are gay and proud".
I'm surprised that anyone even watches the Disney ChannelIt has been nothing but garbage for years. I feel bad for children who are deprived of the classic Disney cartoons that were such an integral part of my childhood, which also influenced my passion for WDW. It seems to be nothing more than mindless sitcoms that have zero reference to anything "Disney". Most of the kid stars are portrayed in roles that promote them being "spoiled" or "brats" or both. Great - just what I would want my kids to emulate...
Sorry for getting off topic. Let the controversial debate resume...![]()
I really don't see a debate here.......................very easy solution, if you feel the same sex couple show is against your beliefs and you don't wan your kids to watch it.........change the channel and/or block it.
Problem solved!

I very much agree with this - only question I have is was it promoted or made known before hand that there would be a same-sex couple on the show? I could see some people thinking that they could feel "safe" (in their mind) by letting their kids watch Disney and not have them see this as it has never been on before and then be upset when it happened.
I am just big on parents having the information to make decisions they want for their kids (whether you agree with them or not)
