Disney Channel Games 2008???

If you spent last year watching the games and also did the concert, which in your opinion was better as far as interaction goes?

My guess is the actual tapings. I know there is a lot of down time during the concert and 100x more people.

Curious as we are driving 13 hours one way and I need to leave right after the concert to be back by May 4 in the afternoon.

Also, I see in some of the pics that there are bleachers to sit on and some people sitting in the grass. Do people take chairs, blankets or anything? We are planning on hanging around all day, every day during the week so I was wondering if we should bring anything. Pillows/blanket for an afternoon nap? LOL

I think the games were better for the interaction.
I guess you could bring in a blanket for the hill especially to sit on.

more bleachers, more than likely, but now last year they let us go on the grass as the soccer games were going on. remember what you bring in you have to hold or carry as long as your there.

for awhile now but just got my password reset to work. You all are really the "Sherlock Holmes" of Disney! We, my daughters, their friend, my son and his girlfriend, are planning our mini-trips now. I will probably go on Tues. to pick up our tickets and depending on the announcement for Friday, we may come over for the day on Thurs. and get back over on Friday about 2:30 or 3:00. The kids have a 1/2 day. I think that my son and his GF are not as interested in the concert, as going to one of the parks on Saturday but will meet us just before the concert since all the parks don't stay open that late.
My 8 yo has been asking to go to the DCG's since the 2007 games were over for her b-day present. I kept looking for information and started emailing
Disney in January. Then I found "the ones in the know"!

Thanks for all the information. I don't have any connections and I have only found the same info as you all while googling. But as someone said, this is the first thing that pops up on the search and I noticed that there were over 30,000 views to this board. Wish I could've heard what the TSL secret was! But I understand the reason behind the secrecy.

I get more and more excited as the days go by!

Yes this definitely is the place to be! I knew NOTHING about the DCGames until I saw a thread that WEDWDW had started back in January. My DD12 and I have been planning ever since. DH has no desire to go so it a girl's week for us!!!!

Also, I had an idea of where Fan Fest could be last night. One of the places left is DTD, so what about at Planet Hollywood? No research to back that up, just a guess.

I was kinda thinking that since all the parks aren't opened late that we would go to DTD on Friday night. Maybe see someone we recognized there! But if it looks like FanFest would be there, then there would not be as much of a reason to go that night.

Does Disney keep the parks open late just for its "select" few? Like would they let the stars have their own time at one of the parks after closing hours for privacy reasons?

We'll be there, so that would be awsome if we ran into some of them. However hope not too many people hear about it because I'm hoping for a light crowd there. Maybe wishful thinking though!!!

I've always wondered about things like this too - I was a PH for years and never, ever saw anything about the parades, concerts on holidays, tapings, etc.

rofl, yes we are annual passholders, have been for years. we never new stuff like this(dcgames and parade taping)even went on until like last year. So, when we got on the disboads, we became mouseacated(educated about the world)lol

Awesome! So, it sounds like Meaghan Martin will be the "Madison Pettis" of last year, sort of hosting and doing interviews with the stars... Also, on her MySpace blog, she announces that she will be in the DC Games in a video. Luke Benward (of Minutemen) will also be co-hosting with Meaghan. Update on the suspected star list? I'll post again in a minute!
