Disney Changes CM Dress Code

Wow, I'm actually really surprised! I went through Traditions not too long ago (almost two months) and they were still really strict on these things. Very interesting!

I bet they are glad they don't have to wear nylons anymore. They are expensive and they "snag" so easily. I don't think I have worn nylons in 10 years. If I have to wear something formal in the winter, I wear black pants. I couldn't imagine what it was like for those poor CM's in the middle of summer or almost year round, it had to be so hot.

Great news for the CM's. I live near WDW and can't imagine wearing hosiery during the hottest months here.

I remember when the mustache thing came down... there was tons of outrage about it. Wonder if there will be about this . . . popcorn::

Unfortunately, resort CMs still have to wear the hosiery. :( One day...

Only in certain positions. When I worked for the Disney Florist, we had the choice of wearing pants or shorts. The same was true for the drivers.

My oldest son says that he wants to work summers at WDW while in college. When there last summer, he noticed that all the guys were wearing long pants, even people doing manual labor in the heat. It might have changed his mind. :lmao:

When my friend worked there in the 80's she had to wear post earrings--no hoops or anything that hangs down. Is that still the rule? And one hole per ear.

She also said no highlighted hair or unnatural looking colors. Still? And she was overweight and was NOT allowed out and about. She was behind the scenes in costuming. I know that rule's been changed.

My daughter told me about this and a couple of other changes on Sunday and I was really surprised - she was too!

I used to work for a company that required females to wear skirts & pantyhose. Along with other strict rules like only 1 piercing per earlobe. Always had extra pantyhose in my drawer.

Loved the company, but only put up with the rules.

You still cannot wear hoop or dangling earrings. No wild or unnatural looking hair color is allowed. The weight thing certainly isn't true anymore.

Peg - are you no longer with Disney? What happened?

I quit a little over a year ago. I did not get to do what I thought I would be doing when I hired on. I thought I would be making gift baskets and learning floral. Instead, I sat in a little cubicle and took phone orders all day every day. Not what I wanted to do. I did get to speak to a lot of nice people, but I got very frustrated on how limited we were as to what we could provide guests.

I'm much happier working on my own! :goodvibes
