Disney casting for show at the Hyperion

Just saw this news that Disney is casting for a new show at the Hyperion. No details on what the show is or when it will be scheduled to run, but I'm very hopeful.

Curious if others have any speculation based on the cast details?
- One female lead has to have a strong English accent
- Trio of three female leads will be a "Greek" type chorus
- Young male lead (17-20) will be coming into his greatness
- Slightly older male lead (mid 20s/30s) is a romantic do-gooder

How long does it usually take to go from casting to have a production ready?

Herclues seems like an odd choice to me given the movie is more than two decades old and hasn't had any remakes or recent tie ins? I've never even seen the movie so I'm not familiar with what aspects fit with it. Is it mainly the "Greek chorus"? The casting description of that calls for styles anywhere from Destiny's Child to the Andrews Sisters.

I've seen some other places online speculating Rogers: The Musical. I'll admit I'd be pretty excited for that!

That would make sense. I've now read a few online articles that are saying summer 2003 (although I don't think there is an official info other than that callbacks are mid-March).

I guess I need to watch Hercules! There are a bunch of Disney movies that fell in between me thinking I was too grown up for Disney and having my own kid that I missed. The only thing I know from the movie is Hades from Descendants.

After watching the Hollywood Bowl Encanto special, we’re hoping Encanto makes its way there at some point. Our friends attended the show and said it was really fun. The staging and projections were gorgeous, and of course the music is incredible - they really outdid themselves!

The Greek chorus thing I think is a red herring. While it kind of makes sense that they’d have a trio of statue singers as sort of the narrators for a Hercules show, the other parts don’t make that much sense for Hercules (other than the “coming into greatness” male role). I don’t know why the two leads would need English accents for Hercules? They don’t really have accents in the movie.

The posting also cites a writer and composer that weren’t involved with Hercules at all - while a stage show would likely have a couple new songs, my guess is they would’ve just asked Alan Menken to write anything new.

My guess is they’re making a musical version out of something that’s not currently a musical. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if it has Marvel ties as the composer apparently wrote a song for the Agent Carter show.

Also, if that's the complete list of the major cast, no one sounds like Philoctetes or Hades. And who would the 20s/30s "romantic do-gooder" be?

Bummer I was hoping Frozen would be back

A CM observed Frozen staging being removed, so the a new show has be in the works for some time.
In the meantime the Frozen touring show is at Segerstrom (for local fans).

While I would have loved for Frozen to return, it's great to have any show at the Hyperion

As much as I would love Hercules, I am voting Rogers the Musical too.

The age brackets for the male roles don't work for Hercules, but make sense with Steve, Peter Parker and Tony. Plus Meg with a required English accent? Peggy Carter makes more sense with the accent. The only other female lead with an English accent would be Jane from Tarzan, and none one the male role matches Tarzan-

Greek chorus is simply a technical term for a trio of narrators in this case. It just matches the Herc Muses so well in both senses of the word that it is throwing everyone off. If that is an intentional red herring it is a well done one.

I see no mention either in the summary above or the screenshot in the cited article of anyone needing an English accent except the lead female.

Correct it was just one of the female leads needing an English accent.

I'm thinking...

Role 1 - some type of 40s/Andrews Sisters style trio that helps narrate the story
Role 2 - Peggy Carter
Role 3 - Steve Rogers? Or perhaps too young. I like the Peter Parker idea a previous poster mentioned, but not sure if Spiderman would appear in Rogers: The Musical. I don't think he was in the one fictional scene of the musical in the Hawkeye TV show. But then again if they are doing a Marvel show why not tie in Spiderman since he is heavily featured in Avenger's campus.
Role 4 - Tony Stark - Wry sense of humor. Leads others with attitude and swagger.
Role 5 - I was originally thinking Thor, but maybe this is a better description of Steve Rogers.
