Disney CareerStart Program Fall 2009

I've wanted to do the Disney CareerStart Program for about a year now. I have my stuff almost complete and can't wait to turn it in. I called the recruiting office a few months ago to see when I can turn it all in and the woman said probably not until April for the Fall '09 season! She thought I was crazy for wanting to apply so early, but it's what I want to do and I want to make sure I have a spot reserved for me. If anyone knows anything for sure, please let me know.
:)

Are you a student at Full Sail? Or just planning on going there after CareerStart next fall? (I thought you couldn't do CareerStart if you were already in college?)

Anyway, my son is a student at Full Sail! He is graduating this June with a degree in Film.

My daughter is a senior in high school and is interested in CareerStart in the fall, so that's why I was reading this thread.

Im also planning on doing the CS for Fall 2009 as well, just got some quick questions. Is there an age limit on the program since Im 21?

I don't know about age limits. But you have to do the CS within 48 months of graduating HS.

How do you like Full Sail? I wanted to go there but couldn't justify the price, and all the work. From what I've read, it's tough.

Oh wow, I am so glad I found this board!

My name is Kate, I am 19 years old and I live in Kansas.

I originally was going to apply for the CP when I was attending the University of Kansas, but I withdrew in November due to personal issues.

Disney is my life, really. Nothing is more optimistic and magical than Disney. :)

I am very excited about the prospect of the DS '09 Fall program. I can't wait to send in all my stuff.

I graduated in May 2008. And my former English/Film/College counselor is writing my recommendation.

Part of the reason I withdrew from KU was because I wanted to pursue my dreams with Disney--and I am taking those steps.

In December I was hired at Kansas' only Disney Store, and I am very happy to be working there. Because of this job, I am probably going to apply for Merchandise. :D

I am nervous in regard to waiting for a response, but I think that's a justified fear.

Anyway, I'd love to make friends who are potentially going to be doing CS too!

On Facebook, I am Katherine Priddle (in the Kansas network) :)

Welcome to the Disboards! I'll be applying for either Spring or Fall 2010. Nice to meet you!

I'm not Justin, but as I said before my DS attends Full Sail. Yes, it is expensive! As for the work, DS was a very average (mostly "C"s) student in high school, so I was a little worried about how he'd do in college. But he's doing great! All "A's" and "B's" except for maybe 1 or 2 "C's". And because he's doing what he loves to do, he doesn't mind the work, and actually is very excited about it. The good thing is that you get a Bachelor's degree in only 21 months, so he will graduate from college at age 20.

That's great! I'm glad he's doing well. I'll leave that option open for me. I have little time to decide what to do! I have to do my CP first.

I'm not sure what major you're interested in, but New York Film Academy has a summer camp at Disney World (and other places) for Film & Acting.

DS attended the 3 week camp when he was 17, between his Junior & Senior year of high school. We wanted to make sure that he REALLY wanted to major in Film before we spent all that money at Full Sail! It was an awesome experience and solidified his goal to be a filmmaker (and he got to live at WDW for 3 weeks!)

If you're interested in Filmmaking or Acting, you might want to check it out:

If not, maybe some others on here might :)

Anyway, good luck with deciding what to do!

I was awesome. I went for Show Production & Touring and had a blast. It is a very good school. I want to do the Disney Career Starter Program because I want to get my foot in the because it has been my dream since I was little to become and Imagineer.
