There is too much negativity on these boards sometimes - "Disney is cheap", "What is the worst experience you've had at Disney?", "Tell us about the worst restaurants..". Are these really information-seeking threads or just a good excuse to Disney-bash?

You know what I do when I see a thread I know I won't like reading??? I skip it! I mean I could read through the thread and then say shame on everybody for posting about stuff I don't like to hear, but I figure what's the point? Life is too short. Plus I am not the thread police, or even a board moderator.

I think its nice to dream of a utopia. In all honesty we bring these things up to see if we are like other people. Are we normal not to like something or maybe we post things we don't like or didn't like so we can hear other people's opinions. If other people didn't feel like we did we may give it another chance down the road. I don't mind the posts that state why is this bad? or worst this? or whats great about this? I don't mind the posts that are over the top about a good experience either. I think the boards are here for people to help others make a decision on something thet are spending hard earned money on. Some people might have bad intentions but thats in all walks of life and these boards are made up of all people from all walks of life, we just happen to like to talk about disney.

I dont think that this thread or any of the threads here are really Disney-bashing...more like worrying that Disney is loosing some of its magic and integrity as the years pass...In the on going battle to save some money (wich is understandable, only a lucky few of us know what its like to exist without worrying about a budget) Disney has cut back on some of the stuff that made Disney "Disney". Disney used to go out of their way to do things that NO OTHER theme park or resorts would do, it may seem silly that we are complaining about "insignifacant" thinks like soap size or mickey-shaped pasta, but to be a parent (or aunt or uncle, as is my case) to a kid who goes and is imersed in this very magical fairytale place.... from bath soap, to pasta, to songs on elevators and sees this as the "most awesome place ever", and take your child back next year and see that some of those little touches are gone..it just well, sucks! The magic is fading from disney bit by bit, How many magical things were there when you were a kid, how many of those things are non-existent? What does that make you think the parks will be like for your grand kids, or great grand kids?

:lmao: Yes, I was in a particularly joking mood at the time! It's my new hobby. If I see someone joking on any thread, I'll just report them every time! Woo hoo! No joking on the DIS! :cool1:

But wait, she was calling someone an "idiot" in a :rotfl2: kind of way! What was I thinking? It should have been so obvious to me that was just :rotfl2:. Give me a break. People, you can't go around name-calling on public forums like this. I don't care how you intend it, name-calling is name-calling when you're not able to verbally or visually add context to it. If you're not sure how others are going to take what you may intend as a joke, it's better not to even type it in the first place. I saw her post count, and could not believe she had resorted to name-calling by her 14th post. I think most people last 500 posts or more before resorting to that. :lmao: :rotfl2: (is there a sarcasm smilie I can put here?).

Back ON topic (sorry Mark), this probably wasn't a cost-savings measure so much as an "it's too silly" measure, but when I was little, you could go to the place that now serves Dole whips and get something that tasted pretty similar, but in an orange flavor, and it came in a little kiddie container shaped like an orange, and it came with a paper-ish sort of straw. I loved getting those. They tasted great, but I also just loved the container and straw. Don't get me wrong, I love the Dole whips, but I miss those containers.

Hey Grimley 1968 -
Seen any hilarious insults lately? I was thinking you'd have another opportunity to be absolutely cute beyond belief, but it seems people are quasi-behaving. :thumbsup2

Back to topic - Now a Dole whip in a pineapple, that would be fantastic! But it would totally wreck the budget. Even a plastic one would probably put them over the edge. No matter - it's still the best refresher in MK. But the Lapu, Lapu (sp?) at the Poly is the real deal.

you included. you were the one that called all of us florida residents idiots. :)

what the heck is going on here!?!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I NEVER said Florida residents were idiots, I said you were INSANE! MY best friends live in Florida and I tell them they're insane! It's called a difference of opinion on temperature preferences? A little New England vs Florida humour? Geez! I only called the OP an idiot! And that was meant facetiously cuz I thought the guy was joking about getting the cold from the pool and I joked back! Why is that so confusing???

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Ok so I don't want to say anything about a pool or the commomn cold...

I know they have cut back on some things, but they have started others. They do alot of the Magical Moments certificates (free), scrapbooking at the CR (free), Kidcot activities (free). I'm sure there are others.

We leave tomorrow so I will see if there are any cutbacks since our last trip.

I also think the OP did a great job of staying calm and nice!

The other thing about swimming in a cool pool is it can be a matter of perspective. Here in the Atlantic City area, when the ocean temp gets to 70 degrees the beaches look like everyone's trying to swim to Portugal.
As someone who goes down the shore occasionally and has seen this, your comment has me :rotfl2:

On the flip side, when the water up here heats to 80 or so we start calling it bathwater. We actually got out of the pool at AKL a couple of years ago because we found it too warm to be refreshing. I was longing for the 60s and 70s of the St. Lawrence River! (any other Thousand Island swimmers out there?)

Up here it got into the lower 50s (air temp) two weeks ago and we were driving with the windows down! :teeth: But I know some folks who live south who don ski coats for those temps. It's all perspective.
