I'm sure there's already a thread on this forum about this somewhere, but I reeeally don't want to dig for it. So, I'm not old enough to get a rental car, and since I'm staying at a Disney resort I'm basically at the mercy of Disney's transportation. But I don't really...get it?
If I'm staying at Art of Animation, what's the best way for me to get to Magic Kingdom? Do they have anything that goes straight there, or do I need to take a bunch of different buses? Help?

There are direct buses between all resorts and the major four theme parks. There is also direct bus service between all resorts and Disney Springs. If you want to go to a water park, you'll have to transfer once.

You will walk over to the bus stops and wait for the bus that goes to MK. It will be clearly marked. Takes you straight there.

  • There are direct buses to all theme parks, non-stop from AoA. Service to parks runs from about 6:30am until park closing time (including any EMH.) Service back to resorts runs until all Guests have exited the park.
  • There are direct buses to DS. Service to DS runs from about 8:30am until past midnight. Service from DS to AoA runs from about 11am until 2am.
  • Transfers are required for water parks. For BB, go to AK. For TL, go to DS.
  • When travelling between 2 resorts, transfer at a theme park or DS is usually required. It's usually best to transfer at the park nearest your destination. Exception: if travelling to or from an Epcot resort, you cannot transfer at Epcot; DHS is usually best.
  • For late night trips, after all parks are closed, transfer at DS. Buses generally will not take you to a park after it's closed.
  • Allow 1 hour travel time for a direct bus. If returning to a resort after park closing or fireworks, expect additional wait time.
  • Allow 90 minutes travel time when a transfer is required.
  • For questions about transportation, especially buses, ask a bus driver. Do not rely on information from resort or theme park cms; they are often wrong.
  • Consider using Lyft or Uber for time critical trips. Most trips within WDW are around $10.

There are also bus depots at the parks. There will be signs indicating what stall number you have to go to for what hotel. Say AoA is stall 4 at Magic Kingdom then you to go the stall with the number 4 on it and wait for the bus.

The parks are easy to get to. It becomes more complicated if you have to go to from hotel to hotel for an ADR. Say to have an ADR at Boma and you are coming from AoA, you have to take a bus to a theme park and then transfer to the other hotel bus.

If you are super concerned on the first time, give yourself some extra time, when you get to the bus stop at the hotel ask around to find people going to same park and follow their lead.

I have not stayed at AoA but the hotel bus stops are usually marked so you know where to stand to go to each park. There are also displays showing the upcoming buses with times
