disney bus rules

Coming in a day early and staying at downtown Disney hotel before checking in at CSR. Is it possible to hitch a ride to CSR to checkin the following day on CSR's downtown Disney bus so we don't have to waste all that money on a cab?

Anyone can use the buses but you can't take luggage on them - so if you have luggage; no you won't be able to use the bus in that way.

Not if you have luggage. Luggage isn't allowed on the WDW buses. Not to mention....the DTD to resort buses are notoriously slow. And they don't start running until mid-morning. So, trying to walk over at 8am and catch a bus to CSR is going to be iffy at best. You could be standing there for a good long time.
I would actually try to book a value resort for the night..then Disney can move your bags to the next resort, and you can use DME to get to the value resort the first night.
Otherwise? You're going to have to take a cab.

Please note that cabs at Disney World are fairly inexpensive anyway. At least compared to where we live.

Thanks for the replies. Not as easy-peasy as I thought! Maybe I will just book a room only at a value as suggested. Mears shuttle plus cab to CSR sort of negates what we saved on airfare. Ahhh... I guess this trip requires yet more tweaking.

Stay at a motel near the airport that first night and take Magical Express the next morning, your check in day.

I would either go with a value for that first night - ME and then Bell Services will transfer your luggage the next day, or as a PP said - cheap hotel with free shuttle by the hotel first night, shuttle back the next day and ME then to CSR.

If you can afford it stay at Pop or All Stars that is the way i would go. You might as well start you vacation a day early. Plus i suspect that if you take all of the extra transportation into account a value will be about the same price as staying in DTD plus the extra day at Disney is priceless. DTD is still outside Disney for us.

I ended up booking Pop for the night...it actually worked out to be cheaper with the room only discount plus the magical express you can't go wrong.

Excellent you will love Pop. Take a little time and walk around the lake. Since you are across from AoA you can look around there also. Have a great time and make sure you set it up for Disney to move your luggage. The morning of transfer i would take a bus over to CSR, check in and then go do something fun. You should be able to come back late in the day and find your bags in your room. Best part you did not loose a day of your vacation. You may even find you like Pop better then CSR... Never stayed at CSR myself but have at Pop dozens of times... Have a great time you have 81 days we have 1488 hours until we leave....car is already partially packed (seriously it really is).
