Disney Bus Driver involved in altercation

Security finally showed up. It was a petite blond woman. She managed to do what the grown men all around couldn't.

The men in this country are turning into sissies. Grown men calling for little blond women to come stop a fight. Geez.

I think they did the sensible thing. You shouldn't just get into fights to prove you are 'manly'. The most sensible thing to do is to call someone who is trained to deal with it, rather than get yourself in a difficult situation. In the case of this scenario the 'fight' part didn't last that long. In a situation where it was getting prolonged, or there is no person available who is trained to step in, then you should act.

If you ended up injuring them you could find yourself in court- you were not the person being attacked.

He tried to choke the driver. Could have broken his neck if the guy had slipped or whatever. You just don't know what will happen.

Now, the driver was a big guy and the instigator was a twerpy thing, but still.

When the one guy starts choking the other, it might be time to step in rather than call for small women.

A second guy steps in, like he means it, and the twerpy guy is done. Off the bus. Everyone moves along.

Any guy who realizes that another guy needs help and calls for a woman to come do it is a sissy. That's my opinion. I stick by it.

I can't help but ask how in the world did anyone calling for the security guard know a women would show up and not a man? Should Disney not hire women security guards then? Should the guest just start "policing" themselves and not have any security guards?

It is easy for people to sit a watch a video and then "discuss" how it should have been handled, but unless you are in the exact situation you can not say for sure how you would have reacted. It looked like the actual choking part was over pretty fast and at that point it shouldn't have been necessary for anyone else to step in.

If someone tried to choke you, would you want a bunch of strangers to stand around watching? Calling for someone else to come help you? Or would you want someone to say, "Hey, that's not okay. You're not going to choke this person. You're not going to hurt this person again."

He didn't know who would come...or if anyone would. He just thought that someone should step in...but not him. Someone else. There's a good chance that when Disney security shows up, it will be a woman or an old guy. Or, heavens, an older woman.

I love how everyone thinks that the appropriate thing to do when someone else is being attacked is to stand there and do nothing. Because they might get sued. :faint:

Furthermore, if you're going to do nothing, then go on about your business. Don't stand there and watch.

Guys like that get away with their crap because nobody steps in. It's the only way they can get away with it.

your 100% right no one cares anymore, if it dosn't affect them they just don't care.

I would want someone to call security, which they did.

I don't appreciate vigilantism, I trust my legal system to back me up and the police and security to do their job.

Stop being sexist and ageist, it makes you look ugly.

Okay so you think someone should have stepped in because while you were watching a video of the altercation, which you had a slight idea that something wad going to happen in advance, you think everyone could react fast enough to do what you feel was the right thing to do? Again it is easy to judge and say what you would maybe have done if in that situation but until you are in actually there and witnessing it in the moment you really can't say for sure. And another thing.....why must it be a man to have stepped in? Would that mean if a women did not step in they care even less?

This reminds me of this:

This is particularly famous in the world of social psychology and what is known as the bystander effect. I learned about this for my Masters degree...interesting stuff!

That is a sad story, think about when that event took place 40 plus years ago, and people have gotten worse. I'm a police officer in miami dade county, I see people like the guy who attacked the bus driver all the time. But I have seen truely Evil people in my 8 year carrier as a officer, and it sends chills down my back. The sad thing is that it happened at Disney, but with all those people in the parks I'm suprised we dont see more incidents like this more often.

Oh i hate that i can't say what i think of you right now you without getting banned.
I find that a lot of guys who talk like that could get there buts kicked by a woman.
So what if they send in a woman as long as she can do the job.
Also what does hair color have to do with it?
BTW When i was in 9th grade i slapped a guy who talked like you his reaction was quite funny.

I agree with Kate.
If the man kept attacking then they should have done something.
If he kept attacking and you injured the attacker i don't think most jury's would think you where guilty.
I think most people are shocked and don't know what to do because they where not expecting something like that to happen at Disney.

How is he a troll? Because its a new poster? or maybe a luker who didn't want to post before?

I will take being called "ugly" over asking women or older people to get involved in a fight between two men.

I will also take being called "ugly" over standing around watching while someone else is attacked.

Rather wear a shirt that says "I'm ugly!" than one that says, "If you're attacked, I won't help you. But I will stand around and watch!"

Yeah...I'll take the scarlet U. Proudly.

This is the first time I am reading throught this thread and I must say I am very disappointed in the name calling and personal attacks that I see going on.

If we can't turn it back to a civil discussion and be respectful to one another I will close the thread.

If you have called someone a name please go back and edit your post.

Thanks
John

Not sure if the comments about the little female security guard where positive or negative towards her (tough to tell with all the sarcasm), but don't let anyone's size fool you. DH is a cop and one of his female co-workers who is as petite and as cute as can be will take you down without you knowing what the heck happened to you. Give her a baton and if you are uncooperative and fight, you're toast....best not to judge someone on her size or hair color.

Just sayin.

This thread sure took an interesting turn.

As for the bystanders helping out, sadly one of the side effects of our sue-happy society is people second guessing the consequences of jumping into a situation like this. Not so much because of criminal consequences but because of civil. Even if they would win the case they would have to pay for their defense. I'd rather two strangers beat each other senseless then deal with a civil case costing thousands of dollars and God only knows how much time because I decided to jump in.

Perhaps some tort reform would change the situation but for now that is what we have to deal with.
