I am almost regretting saying we will have an at-home reception. FILs are (kindly) paying for it, and so have chosen the venue, which TBH I wasn't keen on in the beginning. They were beginning to look at decor and everything, and things were getting into arguments between me and DF because he thought we should just accept everything since they were paying. I told him I didn't even want a party if we don't get to decide. I know this is a bit beebee of me and probably an etiquette no-no since they are paying, but I am a bit of a control freak when it comes to things like that, and a huge planner so I wanted to plan my own party. My mum was a bit upset since they 'were taking over her only daughter's wedding' and she wasn't getting any say on venue, etc.. She did offer to contribute but they wanted to pay it all themselves. AAAAAAARGH!!
I think that's sorted now though and we're going to choose the decor, which I'm kind of excited about since I thought of a theme. I do like the hotel now too, although my parents still haven't seen it. They are contributing towards our wedding anyway, which is what matters most to me
Now I'm dreading having to go through the guest list - this is why we are getting married in Florida, so we don't have to invite every uncle and his cat. The only kids me and DF want to invite are my younger cousins (2 and 5.5 at the time of wedding) as they are like little brothers to me and I speak to them every day - however I know this will cause a rift, and 'why wasn't my kid invited?' even though I don't know their children. I feel like it's for other people and not for us.
Sorry, this is a massive, huge 'poor me' rant - I guess I should count myself lucky to be getting a party when we get back.
