Disney Bricks at Magic Kingdom???

I bought a brick at the WDW Magic Kingdom about 10 yrs ago. A friend told me that the bricks are only for a limited time. I thought when I bought it they told me it was forever. Anyone have any info???

Yes, the bricks were only guaranteed for ten years. It's up to WDW's discretion what to do with them after that time.

The "Walk Around the World" bricks are still in place. They were guaranteed to be there for a specified period of time.. but not forever.

As Robo noted, they are no longer being sold.

As I recall, Disney reserved the right to take them up at some time--were
not necessarily intended to be permanent.

Not sure. My daughter and I did the "leave a legacy" at Epcot last year. And this past Dec. when my husband finally agreed to have the rest of the family take their pictures we were told they just finished in Oct. 07. I was so upset - I am hoping another park starts something. Maybe AK or MGM I don't remember seeing anyting there like this yet.

Last month when I walked to the Poly to the TTC I saw these bricks and noticed that a lot of them are becoming very hard to read. So If I was someone with one of them that would be a little upsetting because WDW has decided not to keep taking care of them, however on the other hand I can see how hard it is to keep them in perfect shape.

My family got a brick right outside the Magic Kingdom in 1995. It is still there.

We've got a brick right outside the Magic Kingdom entrance. We bought it in 1996 and when the security tables went up, I thought we'd lose ours. But it's still there. However, Disney does have the right to take up any of the bricks if they need to. I don't think they would be a massive bulldozing just for the heck of it, though. But if a brick was in a site that was under construction, then it would be removed and not replaced.

Funny thing - when we last visited our brick, my husband said it looked walked on! Wasn't that the purpose?

My wife bought ours in 1994 (I think) and it was still there last July. It's on the walk to the Contemporary, by the buses. Problem is I can only find it because it's in front of the seal topiary. If they ever remove that, I'll never see our brick again. I do have a photo.

At the time we bought ours (it's still there in front of MK, by a tree), the paperwork stated that after 10 years they could be removed. I hope we will have the opportunity to do something else at that time. Seems a little silly, but DH and I love going by to look at our brick.

It is definitely not silly, that's the whole idea ... it was not necessarily a money making scheme, it was intended to create a sense of ownership, propriety, association, attachment (whatever you want to call it) along with a sense of pride ... to keep you coming back!!!

I posted this very question about a year or so ago.... We purchased ours on our honeymoon in 1994 and I was told then (and it was in the written agreement) that it's valid for 10 yrs-that Disney would replace/repair/etc... the brick during that time. It didn't specify what would happen after the 10 yr mark. We go every time to view our brick (on the walkway from the TTC to the Poly) and take pictures of our girls sitting next to it to compare how much they've grown (they are not listed on the brick as they are only 7 and 5)

Hoping it stays put for a long time and that if it does need to come out, they will at least offer a chance to replace/renew

I'm kind of in the same boat. Our family brick is near the road crossing between the MK and the Contemporary. We remember where it is due to the Elephant topiary. If the bushes are trimmed, it's gonna take a while to find the brick. Last Oct I took a few picks of the monorail track and Space Mt. from our brick's location. I figure I can always use those to get the correct orientation if searching blind without the topiaries.

Back in 1994, I think they were $100? We'd also gotten one as a gift in '95 for friends of ours as a wedding present and I seem to recall that being the amount?

My wife and I bought ours on our honeymoon in 1997. We have visited the brick EVERY trip, and when we started having kids we make a point of taking a picture of them at our brick. I have posted some of the pictures in the Now and Then thread floating around this board.

Does anyone know if there is anything else like this going to be available in the future. The epcot one is finished so i was wondering if anyone in the innner circle knows of anything else like this is coming.
