Only at Disney would I let my kids stick their hands in an unknown hole!

By the time we left the characters it was about 1:00. We thought we should head towards the safari. On the way we saw Baloo and King Louie. Jungle Book is one of my favorite Disney movies. Oh, and the kids wanted to meet them! Again, Megan was apprehensive. Baloo is huge and King Louie is kind of crazy looking! She did take Baloo’s hand which was so sweet.

image239.jpg

These pictures crack me up! We're all posing for a picture and Megan decides to leave! King Louie was the only one who noticed she was leaving!

image253.jpg

The wait for the safari was 25 minutes so we got FP, then got in the stand by line so we could ride twice. The wait was pretty miserable. It was so hot and much longer than 25 minutes I think. The kids were bored and acted up a bit. The couple behind us were annoying me. They cut in front of the group that was originally behind us. Which included a Hindu monk I think! I guess they thought since the path was wide they could slide on by, but I wasn’t in the mood so I stopped them in their tracks when they tried it with us. They were very uneducated on Disney. Had no idea what they were in line for let alone what FP was so they kept complaining about the people in that line. Finally the stroller attendant explained it to them. The FP line was stopped back past where they take the stroller and both lines were at a stand still for a bit! Yuck! When we spit up I was so happy “that couple” went to the opposite side as us. We got into the last row of our jeep and we were off!
mgmandak211.jpg

mgmandak216.jpg

The guide said that this was the prettiest view of the savannah. Um, I don't see it!
mgmandak217.jpg

mgmandak229.jpg

This guy was so close, I thought he was going to lick Hunter!
mgmandak226.jpg

mgmandak224.jpg

How about those rhionos?!
mgmandak236.jpg

mgmandak234.jpg

The rhinos were so close I couldn't zoom out quick enough!
mgmandak238.jpg

When we finished we followed the animal trail. I’m sorry, I get the two names confused. Megan fell asleep immediately. The hippo was so cool. He swam out to the middle of the water, opened his mouth wide, then thrashed his head around. So cool! Then we watched the gorilla for awhile. It was too late to use our FP for safari again. It was time to get a spot for the parade. By now the wait was 50 minutes. There was a couple reluctantly getting in line. I gave them 2 of our fast passes and I thought she was going to hug me! Then I found 2 more people and gave them the other 2. My good DIS deed for the day!

I'm at my picture limit so I'll have to continue in the next post. Tonight? Maybe......

Where was that tree in your first picture? I don't remember seeing it. :confused3

Love the giraffe pics - they sure look close! I just love giraffes!

Great rhino butt too!

Love how Megan just walked out of the picture and they got a shot of her coming back!

Where was that tree in your first picture? I don't remember seeing it. :confused3

I thought the same thing! It is really colorful and pretty!

And Monica, that picture of Megan wandering off and King Louie reaching for her is just too precious! Oh, your beautiful little girl! :lovestruc

There's nothing like good rhino butt in a trip report. Dang, wish I had some to use in mine.

And where did you take that photo of Hunter in the scuba diving setup? I don't remember seeing that. I will definitely want to add that to my to-do list on our next trip.

Way to go sharing those fastpasses. I'm sure those people are still telling their friends about the nice people who made their day.

I think my mom took the picture of that tree near Pizzafari, but I'm not positive.:confused3

My mom loves giraffes too. (Notice her shirt at AK)

Yeah, we'll keep her. She's especially cute when she runs into the room buck naked, pushes out her butt, says "my butt", then runs away!:lmao:

Be glad you don't have a rhino butt!:rotfl:

There are a couple of those photo ops right next to where Lilo and Stitch do their meet and greet.

I'm off to get reading on your report!

I must say Monica, Megan seems to be stealing the show in the pics. I cracked up so loud when I saw her walking away with King Louie trying to hold her back, I thought I was going to wake Missa (who has to work nights this weekend, WHOOPS)
I feel that your pics get better and better, like you are finding new settings on your camera.
So looking forward to more... tonight:confused3

great update and pics. I hate rude people in line. The safari pics are really nice.

Aw, poor Hunter. I have to finish posting tonight now. I'll go finish.

great update and pics. I hate rude people in line. The safari pics are really nice.

Hey Scott. It's nice to have you back. I'm sure you're not glad to be back though!

This is how the kids passed the time in line for the safari!
mgmandak209.jpg

BTW, Megan could care less about the animals on the safari. She thought bumping up and down on a jeep was the funniest thing ever!:confused3
mgmandak230.jpg

We crossed the bridge and found a spot in the shade at the end of a path. Megan slept, mom took pictures of the birds on the path and Dave went to get us refreshments. Man, it was pretty hot! As we waited, a CM in a light blue shirt escorted a family to a reserved spot. She paid a lot of attention to the little girl. I thought she might be a member of the Dream Team. As the parade passed by every character stopped at this family and gave them lots of attention. Who knows. Dave brought Hunter a Mickey head bar so I killed time by taking pictures. When the parade started to come I did what all crazy Disney moms do and made Megan wake up to watch the parade! I didn’t want her to miss another one and she had gotten a pretty good nap in. We hadn’t seen this parade before. It was OK. It’s definitely different from the other parades. My mom liked it. The shadow from the bridge made my pictures turn out kind of dark. As the parade ended, my camera’s battery died. My mom had hers though.
Killing time waiting for the parade

The Parade. See the CM in the light blue shirt on the left?
mgmandak260.jpg

mgmandak267.jpg

mgmandak269.jpg

After the parade we turned around and headed down the path which ended up taking us to It’s Tough to be a Bug. I think it may be the exit or a temporary entrance during the parade. I asked the CM and she said “No wait”. Mom, Dave and Hunter went in. You couldn’t pay me to do this attraction! I hate 3D, I hate the “extra stuff” in these shows, and I’m not too fond of bugs! No thanks, I’ll say with Megan. Who, by the way, went right back to sleep after the parade! I stood in the crowd waiting for the parade to pass then I went to the gift shop, then I sat on a bench to wait. I think I sat for 1 minute when they came out of the show. They said there was only 20 or so people in the show with them! Hunter didn’t like the show at the time, but now he says he likes it. He’s just not scared of stuff! He likes it, he just doesn’t like the stink bug part.
The Tree of Life really is amazing. I think its one of those overlooked things at Disney.

Next, we decided to go to Dinoland. We rode Triceratop Spin, then Dave and I took Hunter on Primeval Whirl and Mom took Meg on TS again. I love Primeval Whirl. It’s rough and crazy and I just laugh through the whole thing. Hunter liked it too. Dave doesn’t like spinning so he tolerates this ride. Then we went to Dinosaur! We walked right on. Dave and I rode this on our Honeymoon, so it had been awhile. Once is enough! Too rough and not enough dinosaurs in my opinion. Hunter didn’t love it either. This is the only redneck ride photo I took.

It was getting close to our time to leave to make our 6:10 ADR at Boma, but we decided we had time to try EE one more time. It seemed as if everyone had cleared out after the parade. More Photopass pics on the way. Minimal wait. It was Dave, Hunter and me. It’s even better the 2nd time! By now Hunter wanted to just ride over and over again. He wasn’t too happy that we had to leave. We decided that we would come back on Saturday to see the Nemo show and Flights of Wonder. We hurried out of the park and hopped on a bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge.

image261.jpg

I have wanted to stay here since they opened, and had us booked here before the voice of reason stepped in. Dave had never been the voice of reason before, I don’t why he decided to start now! So I was very excited to come here. Unfortunately, I didn’t take into consideration that it would be dark when we got here! I also was very worn out and my feet were really hurting. I just wanted to get a table and eat! It was pretty crowded in the waiting area, and its very loud because it’s a big open area with Boma on one side and Jiko on the other. We all took a restroom break, and checked in. We waited about 15 minutes then they called us. When Dave checked in they asked who’s bday it was and they made Megan a pin. The atmosphere is very nice, and so was our waiter. We ordered the kids some Pirate’s Punch so they could get the glow clips of Tinkerbell and Captain Hook. Then I got food for the kids, then me. When I got back the kids were almost done eating! This is the only reason I don’t like buffets. They are nice however because I can make a plate up for Megan. So, the big question: How was the food? Very good! Dave LOVED it here, and declared it his favorite Disney restaurant. The prime rib was OK, the chicken very good, and the pork was super good! I enjoyed the sides that I tried, and Dave loved them. I can’t remember the names! There were not weird things on buffet like exotic animals or anything. The chicken porridge was wonderful. They had a lot of fruit for the kids. I didn’t care for the zebra domes that everyone loves, Hunter loved them. The mousse inside just wasn't my taste. My favorite was the upside down pineapple cheesecake. AWESOME!!! The chocolate chip cookies were fresh and yummy. We would absolutely eat here again. Dave wouldn’t let me skip it! My only complaint is the people who let their kids get their own food. They need to learn buffet etiquette! As we were leaving we overheard that there was a 1 hour wait without ADR’s. The couple thought that was awful, the DISer in me knew that wasn’t bad at all! After we ate we headed to the lobby and gift shop.

So do you want to see some pictures of the place I’ve been dying to visit? Too bad! There aren’t any! We were just too tired! The lobby is beautiful though and the fire pit very cool. There was a kids activity going on and the leader was singing and the kids were playing instruments and they were marching around the lobby. Very cute for the first couple of minutes, then it just got annoying! We briefly walked through the gift shop, but I just wanted to go back to the room and crash. We rode the bus to DTD, then transferred to our resort. A very smooth transition. Originally we were going to drive, but we thought that we would shop at DTD, then take the boat back. What was I thinking? We’re not enigizer bunnies! Back to the resort, and crash! Another wonderful day!

Next up: A birthday celebration and my favorite picture

Love the pic of Hunter eating his Mickey ice cream bar! Looks like he is enjoying it!

Glad to hear your review of Boma was positive! I will be sure to take lots of pictures of AKL next weekend if we still go.

Love the pic of you all looking "scared". I can't believe you got Megan to do it at the right time!

Nice to hear about Boma, we haven't been and I agree about the parade. It is different, which makes it interesting. But it's definitly not my favorite either. It just doesn't seem "Disney" enough to me!

Great update!

Don't get me wrong... I still think Hunter is my favorite kid ever..... I was just saying Megan is taking over the comedian role :rotfl2:

Love the pics. Great review of Boma, I'm still yet to get there. The cuisine never interested me. I can tell you the AK is BEAUTIFUL, and I can't wait to stay there.... sooon!!!

Hey Scott. It's nice to have you back. I'm sure you're not glad to be back though!

thanks. I would like to be back there now.

Great update and pics. Tiny only had those ice creams as snacks in the parks. nothing else.
Boma was on our list, but can't reveal anything here. :)

YOU'RE going to take lots of pictures?! Wow! I can't believe we didn't take pictures! My feet hurt so bad and we were so tired. Next time!:thumbsup2

Great update!

Yes, Megan is quite the actress/drama queen! We didn't do it, it was all the Photopass guy!

I agree on the parade.

:surfweb: This is such a good read ! :surfweb:

:thumbsup2 Thanks for some great entertainment on a Friday night !:thumbsup2

Yay! I'm so glad you're joining in! Thanks for the great compliment! Stick around for more crazy adventures!:thumbsup2

Yeah, both of my kids are pretty wacky!

The cuisine didn't interest me either, but I was proved wrong. (Don't tell Dave I was wrong. It doesn't happen very often so he likes to rub it in!) The food is great. It's just really loud in there!

thanks. I would like to be back there now.

Boma was on our list, but can't reveal anything here. :)

We had never had them because we never wanted to spend the money on snacks! So being on the dining plan was nice because we didn't have to constantly tell Hunter no. He also got his popcorn he always asks for. :thumbsup2

My fav update of all so far Monica. I love all these same things at AK and of course BOMA. The pics of Hunter with his ice cream remind me of a hot summer trip we took when I got one of those ice creams all over the front of my shirt and hadn't realized it. My DH took tons of pics of it and teased me to no end. I had to buy this hideous AK shirt to change into. Not one of my better moments.

I'm so glad you liked BOMA. For years we did not try this place because we are not buffet people (buffet etiquette issues seriously creep me out). But one of our DS's begged to try it one trip and since then, we haven't missed it on any trip. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that pork. And the little desserts are fun (yeah, I agree that the zebra domes are not the best choice they have).

Oh and I thought the Photopass pics with EE in the background were great. We did not see that photographer and missed getting that shot. Too bad, because it's great. It was a very nice family photo of all 5 of you.

I love the Jammin Jungle Parade! :cool1: I think it is the music that gets me. I would dance all around if Abby would stop slugging me!

Monica, love the updates on Animal Kingdom. We have never made it to that parade - another reason to go back, right?

Love the "scared" picture. :thumbsup2

Your safari pictures are great - that rhino butt is hilarious. :rotfl2: The closeup one is pretty amazing - they look so prehistoric.

I didn't get a rhino butt picture, but I do have a gorilla butt picture. It should be in my next section of trip report. Whenever I get around to it. :confused3

Boma sounds good! Buffets end up being so much more work for us moms with little guys and girls! By the time you get their food back to the table, you finally go stand in line again for your own food, only to get back to the table and they have finished and want to go back up for something else. Ugh. I like menu and family style places myself, but some of those buffets are just too good to pass up, you know?

Can't wait for more... popcorn::
