Disney bans kids from restaurant!!!

I don't understand why very young kids would go to some of these restaurants in the first place. Wouldn't they just be bored to tears? I would have paid my mom NOT to take me to a place like that when I was very young!

Next time I go to Cali Grill it would be kinda nice not to have the toddler in her swimsuit running around.....

When I was younger many MANY moons ago...my parents made a HUGE deal about taking us to the Portobello Yacht Club at DTD. It was fancy, expensive, terrific food and all of my dad's friends were there. So grown up eh? I was SO BORED.

If kids were really dying to eat at fancy schmancy restaurants, then how can we explain the popularity of Chuck E. Cheese?

That is completely irrelevent and really ridiculous. My mom and dad almost never went out to dinner without us kids, and never on vacation without us, yet they also stayed happily married, laughed together and held hands in public until the day my mother died. And I won't try to judge myself here, but I'll tell you my brother is probably the single most responsible, polite, compassionate, caring, asset to society I have ever met in my life.

I think the quote about Walt and his wife dining without kids was made because someone quoted something Walt said about always feeling like kids to make their point that kids should be allowed everywhere. Of course Walt said that everyone should try to feel like they're 12 again and 12 year olds are allowed so it might not have been the best quote to choose.

A lot of people say that their kids are well-behaved and I don't doubt that but it's not unusual for a group to in a sense pay for the sins of a few. For example, teens all receive the same curfew even though only a handful cause problems. I always believe that laws and rules are meant to deal with the troublemakers not the regular people who would probably do just fine on their own.

but regular table service meals should carry the expectation that if you or your child is causing enough of a disturbance that a reasonable person would be disturbed by it-you should be asked politely to quiet the child or yourself down, and if that can't happen-then you should expect to be asked to leave.

Yeah, My parents would drag me to fancy dinners once in a while. As a teen I enjoyed it, but as a 5-8 yr old I despised it. I hated having to sit perfectly still for 4 hours pretending to enjoy adult conversation and having everyone discuss how cute my dress was. It all just ended with everyone frustrated. The babysitter on the other hand was verbfun. I got to socialize with a High Schooler, which is the epitomy of status in 2nd grade!

Also, Chuck E Cheese is Satans Playground!! I went there one too many times as nanny and have vowed I will try my darndest to never set foot in that horrid place ever again. All the Mom's were chain smoking in a corner while the kids went berserk. One 5 yr old was riding the mechical Chuck E like a bull. It was insane! Even Sam (my charge) felt it was too insane and asked not to go back.

Kindercare and Fairy Godmothers provide care for younger ones if the need arises. However, few are advocating any other restaurants completely not allowing younger kids, at least not from what I've seen.

I say if they're going to ban kids from restaurants, they should also provide free Fairy Godmother service, especially for Victoria and Albert's If people are willing to pass over so much money to eat, and they can't bring their kids regardless, then it would be a nice perk.

But to ban young kids from other restaurants and then still expect parents to pay for babysitting services would seem kind of slimy on Disney's part.

My husband and I are among the culprits who take a toddler to Signature Restaurants. Signature Restaurants are more than half of our meals at WDW; they're one of the aspects of our trips we most enjoy. Our two year old has been to Jiko, California Grill, the Brown Derby, etc. He has generally been good, and we've removed him from the restaurant when he's gotten fussy.

That said, we have never taken him to V & A's. We have always planned on taking him once he was older, but we didn't want to risk even a little misbehavior on his part there. I'm not sure we'd have waited until age 10 - probably more like 7 or 8, assuming we thought he was well enough behaved by then.

The last we were at V & A, there was a wedding party in the private room. A good size wedding party that included multiple children, including an infant that cried for about a quarter of the meal. We tried to be sympathetic, but since we'd arranged for babysitting for our two-year old, listening to a screaming child for a substantial portion of the meal was extremely frustrating. So really, I'm not sorry they have done the new rule. I won't say it ruined our meal having the screaming child right near us; I will say it made a wonderful experience less magical.

That said, I'd be EXTREMELY unhappy if they banned children at their signature restaurants. Some of us with small children hate waiting in lines for mediocre food, and want the option of spending more time and money to get great food.

I always thought that V&A's was a kid-free zone.
That's why we booked ours into the kid's club at GF for April.

Based on a number of trips, yu are correct, Kids were ALWAYS banned from V and A
