Does anyone know off hand the percentage of reward you get for Disney purchases vs non Disney purchases? How many reward points will I get for a $4100 Disney vacation package?

Okay, now I have a question. How do the points benefit you? I have a friend who just got a card, and I was just wondering what the "perks" are. Thanks so much.. :flower:

You can transfer the points to a Rewards Card that can be used just like a credit card at Disney. You can buy park tickets, use it to pay for vacation packages or accomodations at Disney resorts, buy merchandise in the parks, pay for meals at Disney restaurants, etc.

Do you mean balance transfers? If so, you would NOT get reward points, only the 6 cycle 0% interest. One of the other benefits of getting a disney Visa is that they have special "discount" offers for Visa card holders. They have a section on their web site where you can look it up once you become a member. They also offer some type of special financing on disney vacation packages. IMHO, it's only worth it if you pay the thing off every single month, the onlyexception possibly to be the 0% rate period.

Until June 2006 they're running a 2% reward on balances over a certain amount in certain categories, I'm confident your $4100 would qualify, so you'd get around 82 points. The extra points don't show up until 10-12 weeks after the billing cycle, though.

My DH and I both have separate accounts - he has almost 700 and I have 345 accumulated!! So, guess what's paying our hotel bill when we go in 3 weeks???!?!?!

(I just am NOT fond of the 750 points/year limitation, though...JMHO!)

I'm not sure if every one is given the 2 percent reward bonus. I haven't been. I signed up in Aug when they were giving a $50 reward bonus just for signing up. I've never been given anything higher than 1 percent for anything.

Part of my deal though was 6 months no interest on the card balance, and I think 12 month no interest on a Disney vacation purchase.

I have had the Disney Visa pretty much from the beginning and have never been offered 2% for any time period or amount. I used to use it alot but now I am irritated that so many other folks receive special % offers and I never do. So I won't use it anymore.

This offer does not come with your statement. It is listed under "current offers" on your Account Page, where they list all the special offers. I just tried to go in and double check mine, I was just looking at it day before yesterday, but it won't let me in. This has me wondering if maybe they are updating the page and a new offer is about to come out. Mine is 2% if you spend over $450 each billing period on certain items like entertainment/groceries/utilities/etc., but I've seen others who've said their offer was based on a higher or lower spending amount. Go in and look at your "current offers" and see if it doesn't list this. I've definitely been getting some extra points over the last few months.

Pretty much all of the "offers" for the Disney Visa are only offered to a "select" group of card holders. The bonus rewards were offered to a lot (but not all) card holders with varies spending thresholds. Some I heard had no minimum others like myself have thresholds of over $2300 BEFORE they can earn any bonus rewards. I can not see myself ever charging that much, let alone more then that in their limited categories.

So if you want a 1% reward and are going to pay off the balance every month (and don't even think about being a day late) then this is a good card. But if you plan to carry a balance then you are better off finding a card with a lower APR then this one.

Ditto what disneychrista said. I am a Disney Visa charter member and was just offered the the 2% reward last July (ending July 05) and only on certain purchases made after $1,000 or so has already been charged that month. Hardly anything for me to get excited about. The only other time I've been offered double rewards is a time when you made purchases at the Disney Store. We'll be using our disney rewards next month when we go, but I've already applied for and received a Citi Dividend Platinum Select card, and I can tell already how much faster the rewards are going to add up with this card.~::yes::~

I was given the 2% after spending $250 a month on entertainment/groceries/utilities/etc. The bonuses show up about 10 weeks later. Its nice having extra dollars you weren't even counting on showing up on your rewards screen.

....you must book a PACKAGE specifically thru' them or this isn't valid! I paid the first nite's stay at AKL, the first nite's stay/concierge, and the 1st nite's stay at Ft W cabins (doing a split stay this time on our vaca in Feb) and interest-free payments are NOT excluded! I also purchased by PHP's on the last day that they were available (Jan 1) at our local Disney store, and they too, aren't interest-free either! I called customer service about it and this is what they told me!

I contacted Disney about why I was not getting the 2% for my purchases over a certain amount and was very displeased with their answer. I have using their card for all my purchases since the very beginning of this card and now I find out that because of a flaw in the system my purchases are not being counted because the system doesn't recognize the purchase as being made from an appropriate catagory code. I am really sad about this :confused3

"Please note that when a merchant is set up to accept VISA or MasterCard as a
form of payment, they select a category, which identifies their business type. When we determine, which charges are eligible for the Spend & Get double point
promotion, the merchant type must match one of the categories listed above. We have recently discovered that not all merchants are billing under these category types. In addition, if a merchant is not a specialty store and provides a variety of products, they may not bill under a specific category. Regrettably, we have no control over the merchant type in which transactions are billed. When the transactions are presented to us, our system automatically determines the
category code matches the list above used to calculate the rewards. Unfortunately, there is such a large volume of merchant codes, we are not able to provide an entire
list. No adjustment is due at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this matter may cause you. "

This was discovered early on in this promotion, that many transactions are listed under "other," regardless of what they are in actuality. Of course because of this is screws the consumer but as they said it would be impossible for them to know exactly what the merchant is if they select "other" as their business.

Yep, I sent them an email back saying I was upset but understood. Just wish they didn't promote it so much (I even just got a post card about it again yesterday)when it doesn't work properly... I have spent thousands and thousands of dollar over the last several months and am not getting any bonus dollars
