Curious about this punishment. Suppose they ban someone for life, if that person was deadset on returning couldn't they just change their name and return?

It's not as simple as a name change. You need a new name, new social security number, and new state-issued identification. Then you have to fake your own death and make sure your obituary is in a paper picked up by Google News, so Disney's data mining software finds it and knows to remove you from the list. Finally, you get plastic surgery that changes the distance between your eyes and moves your nose closer to your chin to fool the facial recognition software on the security cameras.

Then you could return, but you'd have to hope nobody recognizes you.

LMAO I'm guessing your post is a joke.

Mickeymouse police are everywhere protecting truth, justice and the Disney way. They would find you.

1) Wouldn't be a problem at all.
2) If staying off-site, they can't find you on a regular ticket. *
3) If staying on-site,
. . . put room ressie under someone else's name
. . . give a fake name for yours when assigned to their room
4) It is impossible to keep someone away from WDW.

* For an annual pass, you would have to show ID.

Wow, what did you do???

;)

I have no firsthand knowledge of this, but as The Rusty Scupper said, it seems like it would be darn near impossible to keep somebody out of the parks or off the grounds if that person used an alias and stayed out of trouble. I have no doubt that WDW security is excellent, but with hundreds of thousands of people passing through weekly, it would be easy to slip into the stream.

My suspicion, however, is that anybody who does something bad enough to earn a lifetime ban is less likely to stay out of trouble in the future, and if they were caught back on property by security after being banned for life, they'd be in trouble for trespassing and could potentially be prosecuted.

This.

It's my sense that banning someone for life is more about laying a legal foundation for either having them prosecuted or held civilly libel (for damages, etc.) if they do come back - and also possibly strengthening Disney's own position if that person is either injured or causes someone else to be injured in the future (and Disney is sued).

I think this is more about legal positioning than actually expecting to be able to keep them out of the parks.

I'd never even heard about people being banned for life - but then again, I never thought about it (I guess it makes sense).

Probably the best way to avoid this, is to not get banned in the first place!!!!

So that begs the question.... has any body heard of someone being banned for life?

As an aside, it being almost Halloween... if you are banned for life, could you still come back in the afterlife to reside in the Haunted Mansion? I hear there's room for one more there... :rolleyes1

Yes I know someone who has the banned for life certificate on their wall :)

It's not like being banned from Las Vegas. Now there is a place that takes being banned very seriously :)

And what about the finger scan!

Disney finger scans can't be used to identify individuals.
It is not a finger PRINT.

There can be literally thousands of individuals who share identical Disney finger scan info.

This also why it makes no sense for some folks to refuse to have their fingers scanned.
It's just not a way to reveal an individual's identity.

The way the system works is that, after the first time a ticket is used and a finger is scanned,
the rest of the times that same ticket is used, the finger scan info ("profile number" or some such) needs
to match the same general "type" as the first time that ticket was used.
