My daughter asked about this the other day. She says she is going to apply to become a friend of the princesses after high school. My oldest son (26) has a friend who was one after high school. Is the backstage tour interesting for a teen looking at this type of job in the future? I am thinking of looking for an October tour (weather wise). Honestly, I have read my share of Disney management books for college papers I have wrote but never considered the tour.

Tell Me about the tour.

Are you referring to Keys to the Kingdom? There should be a bunch of reviews if you type it into the search bar up top.

But to answer your specific question, I don't think it's geared specifically toward someone who wants to work at Disney, especially not as a character. There are certainly interesting elements, though, including going into the utilidors backstage.

Maybe lunch with an imagineer would be a good experience, too?

I have no idea if the official name. She said Backstage Magic Tour. I’ll have to do some google research.

Many of the MK Guest Relations Tour Guides are former entertainment CMs so they are able to explain a lot of behind the scenes entertainment details.

My younger DD planned to graduate a year early from college to spend year #4 in the Disney College program, so we did KTTK a year before her graduation. She told the guide her plans and he did a great job of gearing parts of the tour to her.

We watched the MiSi performers practice, watched MiSi in the Hub, and then headed backstage to watch as the performers crossed the sightline and removed some of their costume pieces. We then saw some of the performing CMs in the Utilidors.

It gave her a good idea of what performing in a parade entailed. Interestingly, she’s performed in all the recent MK and MK Party parades and shows but never in MiSi. :)

I don’t think Backstage Magic focuses on the entertainment division at all. That division really tries to keep the magic intact.
