Disney at Christmas- Am I crazy for doing it

I thought same thing last year but we went Dec 20 - Dec 29 we enjoyed it going back Christmas 2017 not sure I would say go at Christmas if you have never been we have been many times. We even went to MK Christmas night AK in the am.

I think as a party of 1, you are more likely to manage the crowds than others traveling with a group. You will have the best chance to snag FPs, you can weave and hob thru crowds easily, and you don't have to please anyone but yourself.

Go for it, have a wonderful time! Enjoy the holiday spirit!

I not advise going to MK on Christmas Day. When we go over Christmas or thanksgiving, we always go to AK for the morning and can usually knock out a lot of experiences. For dinner, we usually go somewhere at a resort to stay away from the crowds. We enjoy the time, but we have learned some better ways to plan out the days.

We did this several years ago and loved it. We usually go in the summer or spring break so this was a nice change. I packed all our Christmas presents and checked that luggage. They were already wrapped so it wasn't stressful. We joined a Christmas tree train for our resort so we had a tree in our room. Staying at SSR also helped calm our nerves as it is so quiet and relaxing. We had Christmas Dinner at Turf Club. We didn't go to any parks that day, we slept in, opened presents, and resort hopped to check all the Christmas decorations. We left the day after Christmas just before every family that hot a Disney trip under the tree got there. We have no plans of doing it again in the near future as all the kids are grown. Maybe when we have grandkids.

Can I get some more info on a tree train and how they work please?

I know this thread is a bit old, but my boyfriend and I are looking at going to WDW from December 29th to January 4th. We were wondering what kind of Christmas decorations would be up around this time (if any). We are hoping to get pictures at MK with things decorated for the holidays but can't travel sooner than the 29th

I have been to Disney twice inbetween Christmas and New Year's and all of the decorations are still up and looking great in both the parks and hotels.

I will say we stayed in the Swan/ Dolphin one year and around the time we were leaving (maybe on the 2nd or so) the tree in their lobby was already being dismantled. For the most part though, you'll be good.

Have fun!

I love Disney during the holidays but I always go in early December, never Christmas week. I have no desire to ever be in a place that crowded. The key is to know what you are getting into and adjust your expectations accordingly. Be prepared for the mass of humanity and roll with it.
