Disney Announces New Premier Passport

This pass only saves you money if you already purchase premium passes at both locations. Most DVC members don't live close enough to the parks to justify the cost without a discount as they don't make enough mulitple trips each year or fly in so they don't use the parking benefit. I wish they would have a deluxe version as we don't need the benefits of the premium version.

See I have to disagree with this. Let's look at the prices again. If you currently have a DVC parks only pass and a Deluxe AP to DLR, that still comes to more than 700. You still save like 20 or so. Yes 20 is not a lot, but it is a savings. I think the thinking was just make it a premium do to that fact. I look forward to cruiseing with you in Jan.

While it is true that DVC members only save money if they would typically buy Premium passes as both parks, it is pretty close to a break even if you typically buy non-renewal Deluxe passes as well ($414 for WDW and $279 for DL, for a total of $693). For those, like us, in this position, the difference in cost is $29.46, which is less than the cost of a single blackout ticket or admission to a WDW water park or Disney Quest for one day. -- Suzanne

Thanks, that is the point I was trying to make.

I'm glad the new pass is working out for some of you as I was really looking forward to it. For us we have a DVC discounted DL Deluxe AP and purchase WDW 6 or 7 day tickets for our WDW trips so it's around a $160 difference. Our WDW trips are not close enough together to get an AP and are for a week. We're not big on the water parks or Disney Quest and we fly into Anaheim and Orlando so we don't need the parking. Even our DL trips are only for 3-4 nights.

I think most DVC members think it's a little strange they give a discount on the separate APs, but not on the combined one.

For me, I'll purchase whatever combination that works for us at the time.

I can't wait for our Panama cruise too!

See at 700 I think the discount is built in since it would be well over 1000 for sepreate passes if bought with no discount.

I am sorry if this is going to sound harsh, but it is driving me nuts. As a fellow DVC member I love the price if this pass. I have a Premium to both WDW and DLR. Together I paid almost 900. So I ask at 722.27 what do I need a DVC discount for? I am already saving close to 200. If you look at this way, DVC gives me about 120 off of a WDW pass, but only 20 on a DLR pass, I dont know about anyone else, but I am now saving even more with this pass. Again, I may have been misreading you post. If I did I apologize. Just had to vent.

If I had premium passes to both then I too would welcome the discount offered by the new pass. AP's of any kind are only of value if one can fit in more than one visit per year - as I live in the UK (in London) this is frankly difficult, so a 15-month AP is more attractive to me than any kind of 12-month pass, as it increases the likelihood that I could spread its use over two vacations. We normally get the standard WDW AP. This year I have managed to squeeze a trip in to DL in May, in addition to WDW at Easter, so the idea of the Premier Passport is attractive - but only if the sums work out. Sadly I am not likely to get back to DL again for a couple of years, so it simply boils down to which is more cost effective. Having a Premier Passport might encourage me to squeeze in another trip to DL, but in all likelihood the only benefit I would get would be for these few days in May.

Secondly, I have no problem with there being no DVC discount on the Premier Passport - but I would be surprised if they were clawing back an existing discount, which is why I query if the upgrade is on the notional cost (RRP?) rather than the price actually paid. The fact that its a DVC discount is neither here nor there - the same logic would apply to a Fl resident discount, or indeed to anyone who purchased an AP before the most recent price increases.

I hope my explanation assuages your anger somewhat.

I have since found apparent answers to my two questions:-

Yes, you can get it for 15-mths.

Our WDW Annual pass is up for renewal in a week. Can I renew my WDW Annual pass for the 15 months, and then bring it to Disneyland at the end of May for our trip out there, and upgrade it to a Premier Pass that will expire 15 months after my WDW Annual pass renewal date?

Thomas Smith on March 10th, 2010 at 9:00 pm

Yes…the expiration date will remain the same as your initial annual pass.

Yes, it appears to be based on the difference in retail price to upgrade.

I currently have an Annual Pass at Disneyworld that expires in April of 2011. I’m going to Disneyland in September and would like to upgrade. Any idea when I upgrade in September if my Annual Pass would still expire in April of 2011 or would it be changed to September of 2011?

I think it’s a great idea for some people, but not most. I will be getting this.

Thomas Smith on March 10th, 2010 at 8:48 pm

Thanks, Christopher. If you currently hold an Annual Pass you’ll be eligible to upgrade to the Premier Passport. You’ll pay the difference between the retail price of your existing pass and the Premier Passport price. Expiration date will remain the same as the initial annual pass. Also, upgrades can be done at Guest Relations at either site.

Well, I got my Premire pass yesterday. It had been sent to an address I have not lived at for 10 years. Not only that but neither of my passes (WDW or DLR) had that address. Trying to track down what happened to the passes for the wife and kids. Tried to call DLR and there is no one to talk to. WDW Ticketing helped a little more by fixing my address, but I think the passes were already sent and are in a dead letter office somewhere. Does someone have a number for AP dept at DLR?

Here is the AP info line from the website: 714-781-4567 or the AP Hotline at Annual Passholder Hotline at 714-781-4546. And a third number to try would be 714-781-7290. Good luck with that.

I've yet to hear from "Ronnie" regarding my kid's APs. Guess I'll have to take another trip over to DLR tomorrow. Great. :headache:

cccdisney - I would call if I were you. If you haven't received it yet, you probably weren't on the list. HTH.

Thanks. I'll call tomorrow. We just got back this afternoon. I didn't even try to deal with it while there. Why do they need to make things so confusing!

We are still waiting, but I we are not expecting anything till at least tomorrow.

I called today and spoke to someone on the DL AP hotline. Now the story is DL emailed WDW on Friday and they don't expect anything until this Friday or Monday at the latest. I swear I feel like I am getting the run around. WDW says one thing, DLR says another. This is getting ridiculous! :sad2: I'm ready to throw in the towel.

Don't. It will never get done if we let up. I now wonder what they will do if I need addmision on Friday since it is not my fault. Might have to play another ace. We will see.

FINALLY!!!! :cool1::banana::woohoo::dance3:

Disneyland finally called me and my kid's passes are approved and ready for processing. :worship:

aan1701 - I hope you get that call today, too! :thumbsup2

Nice. Good for you. I, at the time of this posting, have not been called. What do you have to do? Wait for something in the mail, or go back down to the resort?

I was told to go back to the AP processing center with both passes and they would be able to process them now. Apparently they put notes on their AP accounts on how to process.

I would try calling the guest relations numbers I posted above. They'll call the AP center to find out for you.

So I just got a call.......it was from DW. She was called twice. The second time they asked for me. They have our mobile numbers, so why they called her twice is beyond me. Anyway, they told her, for her pass just as you posted above. Then they told her that my pass expired 3/26/09. She told them that that was not right as I have a pass that says 3/21/10 for an experation. I am to go to guest relations on Friday, show them both passes, and get a comp ticket to get in. Then go to the AP center to get my new PP. So looks like the saga ends Friday I hope.

:cool1: That's great!

So we got the kids AP's with no problems... it just took us a very long time. Ted helped us again and was nice enough to give us 2 Readmission tickets to any ride.

I did ask what a person with an expired pass to DLR would do in a situation like that and he said the same thing, go to Guest Relations.

Anyway, I'm glad this is over and we can now enjoy our PP's! :goodvibes

I am so happy for you. I hope it can work out just a easy for us. I can't wait to have mine.

WDW hotel AP rates just got extended into the summer, which just adds to the many discounts that are helping persuade our family to get Premier Passports.
