This is an odd question and I will for sure be talking to my Dr. about it, but I was hoping for some Dis opinions in the meantime.

We've been TTC for 15 months now with two losses. Our last loss was in October and I found out 3 days after we got back from WDW that I was pregnant. A week later we lost the baby. I can't help but think that maybe the the rides had something to do with it. I know the Dr. will say that it was way too early for the rides to have hurt anything.

Here is my question...We should be "trying" about a week before we leave for Disney. We would know if it worked towards the end of our trip. I don't really want to have to skip rides and then find out it didn't work, but I don't want to go on rides, find out it did work, and have the rides not be healthy.

We're trying to decide if we should skip trying this month. Obviously I don't want to, but as you can tell this whole journey has made me nuts!

I'm hoping for some opinions...maybe even someone else who has been in the same type of scenario.

Thanks everyone!

First, I just want to say I'm so sorry for your losses. ::hugs:: Definitely talk to your doctor before so he can give you some answers.

Now, in my personal experience I went to WDW when I was 5 months pregnant and I went on almost every ride except the "mountains" which my doctor approved of.
Maybe just go to Disney and enjoy it in a different way! Good luck and let us know! ;-)

Hm, that's a tough one, since no matter what you do, you'll have the thoughts in the back of your head.
I haven't experienced a loss, but did conceive while we were at Disney and was back a few weeks later (before I knew we were even pg). I rode almost everything (we didn't hit HS) without an issue.
If I was really worried, though, and for my own peace of mind, I would probably avoid the mountains, ToT, and MS, and RRC. I'm not sure whether or not I would avoid the safari or not, although some do.
They do say that, in early losses in particular, it doesn't have anything to do with anything you do.
With all that said, your doctor can give you way more advice than any of us on here can since they have an actual medical relationship with you and know your full history

I'm not a doctor, but there is no way the rides had anything to do with your m/c. One in four pregnancies end in m/c, because of problems with the cells. That early on in the game, I can't imagine any ride affecting the pregnancy. Heck, I've fallen down stairs well into my pregnancies, and my OB said no worries.

Have to agree with this! If riding a few rides could cause a miscarriage that early into a pregnancy (actually quite far into a pregnancy) then the human species would never have survived!

women, run, work out, horseback ride, just strenuous work through out their pregnancies. Women stayed pregnant on wagon trains and believe me that was worse than any Disney ride.

Even though you KNOW the rides had nothing to do with it,you still question everything. DS was VERY premature and I thought back over everything I could have done wrong.

I would just take the month off, enjoy the trip, and get back on track the next month!!!

I have been exactly in your shoes... I'm sorry for your loss. It is one of those things that no one can ever understand until they've been there.

As for Disney, go and have a good time. If you are afraid that you will second-guess yourself later then I would just avoid the rides that may be more strenuous. Probably wouldn't affect the pregnancy that early on, but I know what it is like to think back through every single incident and wonder if there's something you could have done to prevent the m/c. There's plenty to do at Disney w/out the big rides and still have a very magical trip!

I say, keep trying and maybe you'll have something super wonderful to CELEBRATE while at Disney this year!

I went on the Rockin Coaster the day before I found out I was pregnant. Granted I found out in Disney so the next day I skipped Expedition Everest but honestly I would think that so early in the pregnancy you'd be ok. Double check with your ob though to be safe.

DH & I were TTC for almost 2 years, we went to Disney in Sept. and just took the time to relax and enjoy ourselves. Did a bunch of rides and had a very good time. Came back and a month later got a BFP on the test and going back it most likely happened at WDW. As of this point I am convinced that taking that vacation was probably the best thing we could have done - whether we conveived or not - and think it really helped my body get some much needed rest in order to get ready for this 9 month marathon :-)
I wouldn't worry about the rides too much, but if you are that worried, maybe stay away from the "BIG" rides, but everything else should be fine. Do what you want to, ride what you want too, eat what you want...just be happy while you are there!

my condolences on your losses.. btdt too...
went to wdw in august '07... found out a few weeks after we got home that i was 12 wks pg (totally unexpected based on my history and we were no longer ttc)... i expected another miss but God was good (or maybe rockin' rollercoaster aided implatation) and daniel is now a healthy 22month old!

follow your heart and do what feels right...

best wishes!

I'm so sorry for your loss. We had a really hard time conceiving dc #1 and after our IVF failed I just decided that we needed a break, so when we took our trip to Paris, we took a month off. I enjoyed the cheese and the wine and came back really refreshed and ready to tackle the TTC project all over again. Sometimes it helps to clear your mind.

 I am so sorry for your losses.

We lost our last angel while we were in FL the morning of the day we were to take our kids to MK. I blame the traveling and whatnot that led to the SCH but the doc told me there was nothing that could've been done and there's no way to know the true cause.

I skipped rides when I was in the TWW with my new little girl and once I was pregnant, I skipped rides more (we had season passes to Six Flags). I do not know if this helped or if it was because I was taking progesterone and baby aspirin.

It's really up to you and if you're under the care of an RE, I would ask them. I'm sorry for the mixed bag of advice but I hope that you bring back a sticky Disney souvenir

Heya. I'm so sorry for your losses, I know your pain. My two cents is to take the month off, enjoy Disney. I was on the TTC journey for nearly 2 years before we finally got pg. LOL, I'm a mess now that I am-- I'm terrified to do anything!

I'm sure your loss had nothing to do with your Disney trip. I torture myself with the same thoughts when I had my m/c because I had mine shortly after our family's Great Wolf Lodge trip. I know how that is to have the "what if" in the back of your mind. I think.. was it the waterslide? The two minutes I was in the hot tub? The one latte I had with breakfast? I drove myself crazy with those thoughts.

So... save yourself a little sanity, take a break, and you never know what may happen. Here's lots of baby dust.. :wizard:

OP here! Thanks everyone for your opinions and advice! I am definitely walking a fine line between cautious and overly neurotic so it helps to hear opinions from the outside!

I think we will probably take a month off or just not try, not prevent. Part of the reason is that I took a test on our first night in Disney in October and it was negative. I told DH I wanted to make sure I wasn't pregnant so that I could ride everything. I didn't want to come home, lose a baby and think maybe it was because of the trip...and then of course that is how it went! I don't want to do that again! And I think we can use a little relaxation!

We dealt with infertility for 5 years before deciding to adopt. It was an all-consuming drive that made us both on edge, and at times very unhappy. As one who has been through this, and suffered losses, I would suggest you skip this month. Not because the rides would affect such a young pregnancy, but because you should enjoy this time away with your husband as a relaxing escape from TTC and its worries. Best of luck to you in your TTC journey!

Another vote for taking a month off. We got pg easily with our third, actually before the wedding. Then mc the week of our wedding. It then took us 12 months, clomid, injections and IUI to conceive again. Those 12 month of TTC were so stressful. I am sorry you are there right now.

Please enjoy your time as a couple in Disney. Relax, eat, drink and have fun. If it isn't your month, then you will wish you had that drink, went on that ride. If you take the pressure off, you will not have to second guess every movement, thing you put in your mouth, etc. (I remember sitting on the floor watching TV with a pillow over my belly in case the dog bumped me- it is a nutty time)

First off I wanted to offer HUGS. My DH and I lost 3 babies on our 2 year journey to have a child. We went to Disney when I was almost 6 months pregnant with our daughter and I did lots of rides so I didn't miss out on too much. What I would recommend is to keep trying, but just stick to the rides that you would be able to do if you were pregnant and avoid the ones you would avoid if you were. Hope you guys conceive soon and have a healthy nine months!

So sorry for your losses. It took 5 1/2 years and 4 losses to have my daughter. you do question everything that you did that might have been your fault. It is so hard realizing that you really did have no control over what happened. I still question what has happened in the past. We recently started trying to conceive again and are planning a trip to Disney in May. I did not even think about what would happen if we were in the middle of a cycle when we were in Disney. Now that I have I would really not let it interrupt my plans. I think for me it is because I have put my life on hold so much in the past in our quest to have a baby and it was really all for nothing. I have realized that if it is meant to be it will be and I have little control over it. However, if you want to avoid questioning yourself then you need to decide if it is best for you to take a break and like you said not try but not prevent. I wish you much luck.

Michele

Three years, adopted and then became those people that "it always happens that way" with a surprise baby (and NO, it doesn't always happen that way).

Don't try this month - which doesn't mean don't necessarily not try, just don't worry about it.

When I did conceive my daughter, I took a huge slip on the ice right about implantation time - bruised up my entire hip. (After three years, you still know when its conception time and when its implantation time - even if you stopped trying a year before). I've always suspected (and without any scientific validation) that that "set" her.

the last miscarriage definatly WAS NOT YOUR FAULT. the rides didn't cause it, when they are so small and if you did conceive there the egg had barely implanted but it did implant. I had a friend find out she was 8 weeks pregnant one week after going to a six flags and those rides are much rougher than disney and they have a healthy baby boy. You didn't mention if you have PCOS or something like that as those things can cause an increased risk in miscarriage also I have been told that PCOS can cause a lower than normail folic acid level and there are studies that say too little folic acid could contribute to as many as 25% of pregnancy losses. I am sorry you are having troubles with fertility  but you in know way caused the loss of your pregnancy.
