My family have insisted we stay at All-Stars Movie Resort, but I plan to spend time at Universal Theme Parks. We arent getting a car so can anybody tell me the best transport options and how long it will take?
Cheers,
Steve

You should rent a car because it is going to be between 35.00-40.00 each way to and from Universal. You also could stay onsite at Universal on the days that you are going to be there.

From ASMo, catch the bus to the Disney TTC. From there, catch a Lynx Bus 50 to Stop 38 (I think) on I-Drive. Then, catch the I-Ride trolley up to the North end of I-Drive and walk the remaining way to USF.

Alternatively, I think Mears Transportation Co. do transfers between WDW and US for approx $13 each return.

Quick question: Would the above directions also apply to CBR? That is where we are staying for the first portion of our trip, to include two days at UO/IOA. I have visited the Lynx site, but it was a bit confusing. THanks!

Yes. The Lynx bus #50 goes from the TTC all the way to the Sea World stop on I-Drive.

Which is the best place to get off the I-Ride Trolley for Universal and how far is the walk?
thanks :wave2:

We had very good luck renting a car for one day from Budget at the Doubletree Hotel near Downtown Disney. It was $57 total cost for one day for a midsize car (we ended up being upgraded at no cost to a van due to some car scheduling problems they had) at Christmas peak season. You can take the bus to Downtown Disney and then walk (about 1/2 mile) down Hotel Plaza Boulevard to the hotel. Very, very easy walk.

The Lynx bux works best when going to SWF, because you take the #50 from the TTC to a drop of point 1 block away. A few people have tried it with positive results.

I have yet to read about anyone taking the Lynx bus all the way to Universal. To do that, it's 3 different trips, plus the long walk across Kirkman road to the parking garage. It would probably take about 2 hours to do this. The early morning advantage would be gone, because you'd probably arrive at 11am.

WDW's Car Care Center will pick you up @ hotel to pick up/drop off rental.
Dolphin/Swan have a rental desk (a little harder to get there using Disney transp.) Also offsite rentals near main gate.

AS Movies is charming for kids but, you can't beat the Loews's properties & FOTL. Good Luck.
