Disney After Hours question

Ok...so I have a 7:50pm dinner reservation at MK (Skipper Canteen), and MK closes at 8pm. That same night, there's Disney After Hours at MK from 8pm-11pm...what does this mean for us when we're done with dinner? Will we be escorted out of the park?

If not actually escorted, you would make your way to the exit of the park.

If it's anything like the other hard ticket events (MVMCP, MNSSHP), staff in Skipper's will check to see if you have party wristbands. If you don't, they will let you know you have to leave the park after dinner. Be prepared for an escort if you don't leave on your own.

Since there are no parades or other unique After Hours shows that are performed, and since
riding attractions and getting refreshments require showing an After Hours lanyard,
its not quite the same as trying to linger in the park during MVMCP or MNSSHP.

They also give you a giant lanyard to wear around your neck so it’s more obvious than the wrist bands for the parties. CMs are at the entrance to every land so if you left Skipper Canteen & went further into the park, someone would stop you quickly. The park cleared out a lot faster the day we did it than when we have done the parties.

Yuck. How disappointing that they're cutting regular park hours short for the After Hours event, which used to be late night after regular park hours.

That’s not really the case. The only DAH dates offered in 2017 were during times when the MK normally has more 8PM and 9PM closings on the schedule. They have followed a similar date pattern for the announced 2018 dates as well.

You are right in that the 2016 DAH event was much later as it was in April/May when normal park hours tend to naturally be later.

None of the DAH events have really “taken hours away” when you compare the natural MK hours in place around the dates of the events.

I've been multiple times in late January and have never seen an 8pm closing at MK.

Jan 2017 had 15 8PM closing dates, FWIW. For Jan 2016, there were 8 (and 5 in Jan 2015). I think your comment points more towards the shift towards shorter MK hours overall that’s been happening for a while now than DAH cutting into regular park hours.

Having made trips to WDW in a previous millennium, I can recall many "off season" evenings when MK closed at 6PM.
That meant making trips to the other park, EPCOT Center, to see IllumiNations, and/or evening trips to Walt Disney World Village.

Ah, the memories!
