Disney After Hours 5/5 review

Everyone is saying that they paid $75 for this event..... has it only recently gone up to $150? I'm not sure I can stomach paying for something that I've always gotten for free anyway, but I KNOW I can't pay $150 for 3 hours. I could go to Universal for a whole day for that instead. The price is crazy. I'm really not sure I'd pay $75 either, but it's better. LoL

We are DVC members and currently have annual passes so we qualified for the 1/2 price admission they decided to offer after low sales for the first 2.

The way I look at this, it's their answer to making more $$$ in the spring and summer like they do in the fall and beginning of winter. September through December, a large majority of nights the MK closes at 7 pm for parties. They keep raising the price on those. Now, they have a morning/evening option with the lure of shorter wait times in a bustling park, and they don't have to do all the extra things that they do at the Halloween and Christmas parties. Not that surprising with the direction they are always going these days. It really bums me out...

I was also at the "After Hours at the Magic Kingdom" event on May 5. I do wonder if they had more guest then they had before because a lot of the cart were running out of ice cream as the night went on. Every ride that we went to was walk on with the exception of of the meet and greets. BTM was only loading on one side and there were so few riders that they were allowing people just to stay on. I think one of the great benefits of this event was the attitude of the Cast Members. Many were happy and willing to chat or act out a little more. The Haunted Mansion host were especially fun. I also had a fantastic interaction on Journey of the Little Mermaid. I went on Jungle Cruise hoping for some off script fun but the arrival of younger guest kept the ride more on script. Due to the late hours I noticed plenty of kids dragging and being grumpy. Yet the older guest seemed to be enjoying themselves and I think this is were Disney should focus with advertising an event like this. While Disney shouldn't exclude anyone a lot about this event feels like it's geared towards those lovers of Disney that don't have children with at the time. Watching guest and cast members goof around, having banter with your fellow riders, being able to sing along with the attractions because your practically alone. These are the kinds of things that are retarded or seem more rare during normal parks hours and larger crowds but during this event I saw much of the magic of the parks that I haven't seen in a long time.

As an aside: I noticed in Pirates that they have lowered the water level, you could see the guide rails and the bottom of the pool in every room. It took away from the attraction for me.
