Has anyone done Disney not long after a C-Section? Just wondered if 2 month's after a C-Section will be ok to go in the waterparks.

I'll be taking a 9 hour flight from the UK too. Just looking for experiences of flight's, going round Disney and having a young baby.

Thanks

I wouldn't do it. After having my c-section althought it was not that bad, I can't imagine doing Disney a few months later. All the walking would have had me folded in 2 with pain.

I had 2 c-sections. The first one was rough. I dont recommend that much walking. You wouldnt want to injury yourself and be so far away from home. Just a thought..

When we went last summer, my wife was about 25-32 days post c-section. I don't recall her having any trouble getting around the parks, and I know she took our older kids swimming a couple of times (although we did not go to a water park). She also made sure to do a fair amount of walking in advance so that she would be ready for the trip. The bigger issue was having such a young one who needed so much protection from the heat and potential germ exposure. It wasn't the greatest trip for her because we were so often limited in what we could do because of the baby, rather than because of the c-section.

If you can schedule your trip at a later time, I would highly recommend it. If you're like we were, however, with pretty much locked-in dates and a burning desire to go, then you can make it happen.

I had my daughter by c-section in October 2010 & we went to the parks in February 2011. About 3 months and 2 weeks after I delivered. I was fine. We do have three kids so we go at a slower pace so that could of helped.

About a month after my c-section I was as good as new. It no longer hurt and my doctor checked me out and said that everything was healing properly and I was good to go. It did hurt for about two weeks after when I walked, moved, ect but like I said after one month I didn't feel a thing.

my dd was three months old when I did disney and she was a c-section I was tired but at the time I wouldnt of been able to tell you if it was from the c-section or from me being very pooh sized or both(im thinking when I was 350+ at the time because now I still get tired but no where near what I did and im about 190) if you go take your time take breaks and we did alot of charcter meet and greets it helped being indoors in the ac for you and the baby

You'll be right on the edge. It takes most people 6-8 weeks to feel "normal" again. But sometimes it takes longer. I took longer with my first c-section but I do believe it's because I went through labor and pushing before having an emergency c-section where with my second it was only about 4 hours of light labor before the c-section. I know at 6 weeks even with my second I would still occasionally have pain when walking long distances. Hopefully you'll be feeling great but be prepared to need to still take it easy.

I went to Disney 7 weeks after my third c-section. I didn't have any problems, though my dr told me not to do any high impact rides. I went in the pool with the kids, but not the water park. I definately took a slower pace, the pace was set by my oldest (who was 3 at the time).

My first c-section was my hardest - longest recovery time. The second and third were much easier.

I went when dd was 8 weeks. Our flight was only 2.5 hrs. I had no problems and rode all the rides. Even fit into my regular shorts! I would recommend getting a wrap to wear baby. Go and have fun!

If you can push it out a bit further I would.

I had 2 c-sections, and I know as a standard rule you shouldn't go swimming for 6 weeks, but some women have spotting past that, which could complicate a water park day.

However, I had complications with my second c-section and had a retained placenta and had to have surgery when my daughter was 3.5 months old. Although not common, you should leave yourself wiggle room in case of complications. It will also be hard going so far with your newborn. Maybe push it out further if you can?

I live locally and started bringing my daughter to the parks at exactly 1 month old and had no problems walking after having had a c-section. Since the baby is with me it is VERY slow paced, laid back touring. How much running around are you planning on doing with a 2 month old? The reality is that the baby will require you to do things at a MUCH slower pace than you are used to if you've been going without baby because there are all kinds of logistics involved with taking a tiny baby that you don't even think about until you find yourself in that situation. Considering that, in terms of touring the parks post c-section you should be fine! I also went swimming 6 weeks after my c section (when the doc cleared me) and have had no problems.
That said though, my daughter is now 4 months and has never been to a water park nor do I plan on taking her to one anytime soon. I will wait until she is at least 6 months but probably even longer than that. The 2 month old baby can't do anything at the water park and use of sunscreen is not encouraged at that age. It can get really hot at the water parks, a baby that young can not regulate their temperature and should not be in the heat for extended periods of time, and unlike the theme parks, there really aren't any cool places to go inside and sit for a while and let baby cool down other than the changing room. I don't know what time of year you are coming but my daughter was 2 months in May/June and it was already so hot at that time of year I would never keep her outside for more than 2 hours at a time and even 2 hours is pushing it. At a water park the baby would be outside for probably much longer than 2 hours and I would hate to be that baby if you are going when the weather is humid, which is a good part of the year here. If I were you since you are coming from so far away I would delay the trip for the baby's sake. You will probably be fine, but I'm not sure you are realizing just how huge of an impact an infant that young will have on the approach you will have to take to touring the parks!

My other daughter will be 2 by then, wo we planned to take it slow anyway. I've done most of the rides many a time, so we would be looking to do a slower pace. This will be my second c-section, so i won't be moving too fast round the parks.

I wouldn't plan that big of a trip with a newborn, period. Having had two c-sections, I can say that your recovery can't be predicted. My two were in no way similar. Additionally, while one of my sons slept through the night from 7 weeks on, the other was almost 2 years old before he slept through. I could not enjoy a vacation while sleep deprived! Good luck with your plans, whatever you decide!

I would also check with my doctor before buying any medical devices to speed healing. My docs stressed the need to keep the incision dry...including exposing it to sunlight for awhile each day. You could be setting yourself up for a yeast infection or worse by covering your incision. Check with your doc before making Disney-related choices like this!

I had a rough time after my c-section and had trouble going to the local shop 8 weeks after. And before the birth there was no indications that I would have issues.

The other thing to consider is your travel insurance. I know that most international insurance (from Australia) wouldn't cover a c-section within 6 months of the birth, it may be the same from the UK.

Have you ever heard of the Belly Bandit?

Check out their website, they have these awesome compression wraps that help you heal so much faster.

Good luck!

I was told that these bands are not good to use ,but moving is good for you. I went to the grocery store the day after I left the hospital. The more you move the better you will be, Heck they get you out of bed after 12hrs.

I personally think 2 months should be more than enough time to recover... I was playing ice hockey 8 weeks after both my c-sections (doctor approved, she was on my hockey team at the time).

I say go for it!

As you can see, no one here can really tell you if it will be okay or not. Some have been fine and others have not been. You really will not know until the time comes... and by then it will be too late if you are one that has issues.

Personally, I would push the trip back. It would leave you will more breathing room in case you don't bounce back as fast as you want.

I think you'll be okay. I went about 7 weeks after my c-section. I also had a laparoscopy, cancer staging and abscess drained 3 weeks after my c-section and was still fine at 7 weeks.
