ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Planning a trip to the happiest place on earth? Walt Disney World and Google Earth have joined forces to re-invent the way people plan and book vacations to Disney World in Orlando.

The new interactive tool allows guests to view Disney's Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, hotels and resorts in 3D at their computer.

With about 1,500 3D models, it is the next best thing to being there. A quick click of the mouse will show the guests a detailed, 3D image of the selected attraction.

The convenient tool then allows the viewer to purchase tickets, make reservations, and map out the vacation that is perfect for their families. "Guests and travel planners can now explore our world with just a few click of a mouse. They can book vacations while being immersed in what the destination has to offer,” said Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Jay Rasulo in a release.

Funny - DH and I were just checking it out! It is amazing. Really brought back some memories of our last trip and made us all the more excited about our next one! Definitely worth checking out!!!

When you go to your Google Earth application type in Disney World. GE should zoom in to it. Then click the gold Mickey head and a window should pop up. On the upper part of that window click "view Disney in 3D" or something like that. And, voila, zoom in and view the parks in 3D!

I just can't figure out the 3D part of it.

make sure you have the newest google earth

i had one already installed and i couldn't get it to work

but just to see if that was the issue, i installed the newest one and it worked!

SO COOL! i feel like i'm playing the sims at WDW!

When I zoom in it looks distorted. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks for any help.

so from what i had heard on some podcasts, this was supposed to make you feel like you are walking down mainstreet.....it seems like you just have to click on certain attractions to see a mini little video that you can already pull up on the regular disney site though....am i missing something??

It's kind of cool, but it will take a bit of work to get it to move around correctly. At times I felt like I was looking at a Disney World made of cards!

Funny, DH was just showing me this yesterday. There must have been a news story published on line. It was very cool! We just got back from our trip on June 4th, so we were reliving it again via google earth!
