How does the Disney 24 hour thing work? Do you have to buy a special ticket? Can you leave the park and go back? So say you leave at 10pm May 23--can you get back in the morning of May 24 on the same ticket?

1- Nope.
2- Yes.
3- If it is during the continuous party, you can enter/leave/re-enter/etc. all you like.

After the scheduled party has ended, then to go to MK the next day requires another ticket "day."

I actually called Disney yesterday for another purpose and asked about this event while I had the CM on the phone. She said that you just have to have regular admission tickets and the same restrictions apply that are attached to regular admission. No special ticketing is required and you can have multiple admission to the same park, so just make sure that you only visit MK on that day if you don't have park hopper.

Your ticket for May 23 ends at 6:00am May 24 when the park closes. If you want back in at 9:00am when it opens again, you need another ticket day.

Last year we went and had a ball!! We arrived for opening at 6am in the morning! It was so weird getting to the bus stop at AKV at 5 am!! No one was there at all and it was pitch black outside....Then a few others joined us for the MK bus..I was getting a little worried at first...

Then when we got to MK the excitement began!! They had a big celebration at the train station too kick things off and gave us pins to put on..

It was so cool to be in Magic Kingdom at Dawn and we pretty much had the place to ourselves till around 10am..Then it started getting busy...

We headed out a little after 11am and then swam and napped until that evening.

We went back about 9pm and it was a madhouse!! Mainstreet was so packed that you could not move!! It was horrible..hopefully than can keep the flow going better this year. Everyone was stopped wanting to watch Wishes and the castle show...
So we finally got through the mess and the rest of the park was fine.

We stayed till 5:45am!!! By 2am we were getting pretty tired, but we just kept on going...Was such a fun experience.

We wanted to stay till 6am, but my DD drank a Lafou Brew at 3am and then rode the tea cups and that did her in...She was so sick to her stomach we had to get out of there...LOL

I would do it again in a heartbeat!! We plan to be there for next year if they continue this tradition!!
