Disney - 2 Years in a Row?

Thank God my DH likes Disney since we go 2-3 times per year.

It probably will be crowded when Fantasyland opens. Fall is a nice time to go and the Halloween stuff is fun.

If you can afford the triop and the obscenely expensive car, then I say go for it!

Thanks everybody for the advice :) We use our taxes to go so there's always enough, it's just a matter of if we want to do any type of home improvement projects that year or not. Last week I got bad news from my doctor (cancer related) but I'll be having surgery within 2 weeks to take care of that. It just makes me want to go back to Disney even more... just because you never know. I told DH we will wait and see what kind of discounts they come out with (this means waiting for his car parts too)... I don't want to make him hate Disney but at the same time, I can't stand being away

We went back a year after our first trip, but that was because we both wanted to go. I wouldn't want to plan a vacation that my husband was so opposed to, especially since he seems to feel it's just for you and that he's not going to get anything out of it at all. I'd wait two or three years.

I love Disney as much as the next person, but I definitely get budfam's husband's point. Up until the beginning of 2010, we used to go to WDW 3-4 times a year for the better part of the last 20 years without fail, and while we always had a blast, I hadn't had more fun in the past decade than I did on our first return trip to WDW in over a year. Aside from all of the new attraction/restaurant changes to the parks, it just felt a bit more special spending time away and coming back after a longer amount of time.

As to budfam going alone? I've never understood that line of reasoning. Maybe other people love going solo, but personally, my vacations are far more fulfilling and fun when my entire family goes. With the amount of travelling I do for work, I spend enough time away from my wife. Our time together as a family not doing our day-to-day routine is about 90% of the fun in any vacation we take, regardless of destination. When we're at WDW, that percentage is only maximized.

Hey there,

I didn't read all the replies, but we did a disney trip last year with 5 day park tickets. This year we are doing an orlando vacation with 2 days at universal, 1 day at sea world, 1 day at a disney waterpark, and 1 day at MK or EP. It is something different for us all to see, yet we still get a little bit of Disney. We are looking forward to it just as much as we did last year!

Also, doing a very tight budget trip again :) Renting townhome at Windsor Hills (3 bed, 3 bath, full kitchen, laundry and private pool) for $550 per week. our flights are < 700 for 4 of us. Car is at $200 right now for full sized (working on finding a cheaper), and tickets will be ~600-700 because we can use airmiles for some and some we already had left over from non-expiring tickets. We will eat healthy and cheap breakfasts and dinners at our townhome, only leaving lunches to eat at the parks.

Maybe your DH would be more excited if you changed it up a bit and did something other than just disney. Maybe a day at the kennedy space centre, beach, sea world, universal etc. Legoland is also opening soon, maybe that would be something he would enjoy? What if you stayed offsite in your own vacation home? DH might appreciate sound lounge time by your private pool? Involve him and see what he is looking for out of this vacation and maybe by compromising you can make everyone happy?

Years ago DH wanted to go overseas with his sister and DS. DD was 10 and had no desire to go. We opted to go to WDW, while they did their trip.

It has now become the mom & daughter annual trip. I surprised her with trip #2 hours before we left. Last year we took a friend and her kids. The next trip is in Nov. and it will be a surprise again. This will be the 4th trip in a row. We have usually gone over the Columbus Day weekend (Th-Mon) and have enjoyed the Fall/Halloween decorations and party.

DH has NO desire to go back to WDW. We went as a family when the kids were smaller and he got tired of the "magic". DH takes a trip every summer to Chicago for a few days to go watch baseball and hang with some old friends. That trip costs at least (if not more) than the Disney trip, so I have no problems taking DD each year.(I budget and save for it all year)

If your DH doesn't want to go, how about just you and the kids go?
