Joan- I did trace the mickey and then I stitched around it and pull it tight to have the mickey head pucker up. I am going to re-do them as I am a horrible perfectionist and they aren't bright enough colors, plus you can't see the mickey clearly enough. Thank goodness DH is out of town this week..LOL

OK, timeout from the TR for some real life. You might call it First Day of School. I call it...... Mothers Day!!!

Tammie you are so right - she IS a McSparkleson again!!!!! Headband, skirt, and shoes!!!!!

I think I was as nervous as Ally this year since it is her 3rd school in 5 years. I really felt for her last night - you could just see how nervous she was. "Mommy, do you think I'll have a new friend by Friday?" It about broke my heart!!!

Last year she rode the bus the first day, didn't want us to take her to school at all. This year she wanted BOTH of us to walk her in her first day.

But I know my Ally and she will have a new BFF by the end of TODAY!!!

This school is so different in that the elementary only runs 3rd-5th grade, (the primary school is K-2nd grade). So it is very intimate. And I've never lived in a small town before. Like really small. Actually, we are in between two decent sized cities, but we are on the outskirts of the school district that encompasses this small town where she goes to school. From what I hear it is true small town Americana. As in the entire town goes out for the football games (helps that we are favored to win the STATE!), and everyone knows everyone.

Only problem I see is that it kinda looks like the family trees don't have many branches..... if ya know what I mean!

It should be a great new experience for us, and so far I am in LOVE with her school, principal, and teacher. In fact, Jeff got a look at Ally's teacher when we walked her to her class and he quickly volunteered to help out after school. Her teacher is a cutie!!!

Kara, she is adorable. I was like her as a kid went to a million school before the end of elementary school LOL But in all of them i had a friend and im sure she will too!

First day of school was a success!!!!

Ally got in the car, looked at me and said, "Mommy, I think I'm gonna like it here." Hallelujah!!!! I breathed a huge sigh of relief as she rattled off the names of kids she played with at recess, sat with in class, etc. And also all the kids that asked HER to sit by them at lunch! Oh, to be in elementary school again!

And get this. Not only did the principal spot us in the morning and come over to give Ally a hug and pep talk, but Ally's teacher CALLED ME last night to see if she had a good day. Talk about feeling welcome and loved at the school!!!! Just for that, I feel I owe it to them to bless them with my presence at the first PTO meeting tomorrow!

OK, stress of first day is over, now back to our regularly scheduled TR......

Thank you! Does adorable really roll its eyes at age 9? Funny thing is that we really thought Florida was permanent. Now we think this will be permanent. Both tranfers have been flukes, so hopefully this will be it and she can settle in for good.....

Hush Rosie!!!! Yeah, they do not know what they are in for! We tease Ally so much and every time we drive through the "downtown" of this very rural town, there is a place named after the high school mascot. So every time we drive by there, AND by the school we yell, "Wolverines... WOOOOOO!" Poor kid is always so embarassed. So last night she asked what I was going to do at the PTO meeting and Jeff told her, "its where mommy learns the school fight song!"

Kara- I am so, soooooooo happy the 1st day went so well- WOW, what an awesome school she is in!! You must be on cloud 9, you really, REALLY picked the right house, in the right town, and the right school. I think you can exhale now.

So we are home from HHI- a week there is just not nearly enough...sooo many more things to do that were left undone...well...it's just a reason to go back! Talk to you all soon- I'll do my best to get the next update up in the morning, I know you've all been waiting to go to DHS soooo patiently!!
