DisMom Princesses in training for the Princess 1/2

With all this Princess talk, I'm now seriously considering signing up for the Princess 5K. I'm not sure I'll ever be up for the 1/2, so right now I'm concentrating on 5Ks. I know registration begins July 5th, but does anyone know when the registration deadline is? I probably won't know until Nov or Dec if I can do the race. Do they set a cap on the number of 5K runners?
 
The cap for the Everest 5K was 3000.

They will close registration when they reach capacity. I believe there were 17,000 for the 1/2 last year.

Once the races reach 50% capacity, it's posted and updated on rundisney.com, so you can always check in and see if they are getting close. Usually someone will also post a thread on the WISH Events section, letting people know. You may have seen the one recently when Goofy reached 60%.

Thanks! I really want to do it and my mom is on board, but we found out a couple of weeks ago that DH may be out of work just before Christmas. He's a contracted IT Project Manager and the co. he works for will only allow contractors to be there for 18 months. His boss is working on granting him an exception, but we won't know until the late fall. Hopefully things will work out and he'll keep his job and the Princess 5K will still have space available!
 

I am off today for a furlough day a.k.a. day w/o pay because our all mighty governor can not do basic accounting. My husband took a vacation day. We went for a 7.5 mile walk & it took 2 hours & 45 minutes. We didn't walk fast because we have NEVER walked that long w/o sitting. We came home & got ready to go to lunch. We had lunch then I went to buy my scale a new battery, a new sports bra, & I got some new shoes. My shoes are Brook Adrenaline GTS. I think I may REALLY like them. I can't test them out today because we have to by a new bat for my youngest & go to softball practice. It's been a sports related day. Good day! :)

Which meant the preschool DS5 goes to was closed with only 2 weeks of school to go, BUT they are making those days up. I would love to know who the moron is that came up with that idea. I wish I could run my household finances the way government does. :confused3

We are in KY. I am a merit employee so they can't lay us off so this is their solution. But the state has a surplus.

:banana:Congrats on getting through Week 1 :banana: I think it's one of the harder weeks. Go at your own pace and listen to what your body is telling you so you don't get an injury. Just keep at it and it will get easier! You go GIRL!

I've got one week of gym time before we hit Disney. The resort we're staying at has a gym, but I doubt that I'll hit the gym while on vacation. I figure I'll be burning a lot of calories with all the walking we'll be doing in the parks. When we get home from vacation I will be on week 1.
 
JennStars9- I saw your kids are 5 & 2 so you will have a workout!!! It has just recently gotten less of a workout when we are at WDW & mine are 6 & 9. First time we took them they were 1 & 3. That was a workout. We said we went to the room for the kids to nap but really we went to the room so we could rest. I wouldn't change a thing.
 
I finally updated the countdown on the first page... We went camping on Friday and just returned today. I finished week 1 of C25k on Friday, but I'm going to repeat it. I just don't feel ready to move up.

I felt more confident this a.m. after beginning the repeat of week 1. I could actually run for 60 seconds this week. Good luck!
 
I finished week 2 of C25K today. Bring on week 3! Week 2 felt good. I don't know if I want to say it was easy, but I didn't feel like I was killing myself. Week 3 looks a bit more challenging, but I think I'm ready for it.
 
97 degrees today w/ a heat index well over 100. I walked 1.5 miles at 6p.m. & it was still 95 degrees. I like to walk or jog in the a.m. but today it had to wait until evening.
 
It's been hot here too, but not that hot. I've been trying to run in the evening to avoid the heat. I can't imagine doing it in the middle of the day. Last week I went one day at 9:30 am and when I got back I could feel the heat radiating off my face. No running today for me. DH had to work and the babysitter couldn't come. Tomorrow is a definate! I really missed it today.
 
I finally started running again. Got up and did 2M this morning. It was hot already...but new month, new start! Now I just have to actually get up and do 3 tomorrow!

I think it is really smart to get comfortable with a distance before you try a longer one. This isn't a race yet, you have plenty of time to master getting comfortable with jogging, running and even walking fast!

I don't know if I posted it on this thread, but I'm giving myself an incentive to get back on the weight loss wagon. If I lose 20 lbs, I'm booking myself into a Mod instead of a Value. That just might mean a new Princess room at POR! :woohoo:

I haven't run in forever! I was sick all weekend, and today is the first day my ribs don't hurt when I cough, sneeze, or bend over. All of my muscles hurt, but I don't have a fever (sure does feel like it though).
I do feel a little ok today, so I'm going to repeat week 5.

I did download the bridge to 10K program but I need to put it on my phone.
