DisMom Princesses in training for the Princess 1/2

I get 30min for lunch so I walked for part of it. I walked 1.2miles in 16:35 so now I have more confidence I won't die doing the Princess Marathon after I condition & lose weight. I have my eye on two 5k's (September & December) & possibly another one or two.

I did it! :cool1: I just did W1D1 of couch to 5k... I took it slow based on the posts from the rest of you. I did fairly well and kept my breathing under control. I suffer from asthma, so I'm usually always out of breath doing any type of exercise. I maintained a 15 (almost 16 :guilty:) min mile, so I will really need to pick up the pace as the weeks go on.

Great job!!!! Let's get through the program first, we can work on speed later. There is actually a written intermediate C25K program that has speed days.

Great pace!!!!!! No, you won't die. I might, but you won't! LOL

I ran again this morning (first time in about 10 days...), and I was wearing a WISH shirt. It's seems like a good time to post the WISH motto:

DLF>DNF>DNS

Dead Last Finish is Greater than Did Not Finish which Greatly Trumps Did Not Start

WISH Gave Me the Courage to Start!

Woohoo, on our way to the Princess, Ladies!

Oh and :wave2: to Buffy!

Maria :upsidedow

Good Morning Ladies! Today is my "off" day from C25k, but my DS has t-ball practice and there is a track so I thought maybe DD and I will take a couple of laps around... I also signed up for my first event- Walk To End Alzheimer's in Sept! I have plans to do either the Komen Race or the Out of the Darkness walk in Oct. I am also looking for something to do in Nov. or Dec... There is a 10k in Nov, but I'm not sure about that. :scared1::confused3

Renee,
If you do the 10K, I think you can use that time to qualify for the 1/2 (but I'm not 100% sure). If not, you stuck in the back of the pack with the rest of us newbies.

I am on W7 of Couch to 5K and registered today for the Wine and Dine 5K. I ran (jogged) :rotfl2:2.1 miles Sunday morning in 25 minutes. Not great time, but it's a start. After I complete the 9th week of this program and I am continuing on to train for the Princess! :cool1:

I had no idea, but I was just reading that if you want to register with a time of 2:45 or less, then you have to show proof from another race 10k or longer... I doubt I'd make a time that I could use, but I do think I'll do the 10k. If for nothing else then to get the practice of a longer race in before the Princess.

Added you to the list! :cool1:

What's this about showing a qualifying time? I know they said for the Princess you have to be able to do at least a 15-16 min mile. How soon before the Princess do you have to show your time? I guess there is some fine print I need to check out. :magnify:

I'm not worried about times I'm worried about surviving! Also, the thought of winter training terrifies me. I hate winter. I may have to invest in a treadmill.

I just started and can run out side now, but I'm with you KY, once the cold comes I'm either going to have to join a gym for the treadmill or buy one. I hate being out in the cold and can't breathe easy if it's super cold.

Here is the proof of timing info. If you don't think you'll win then I wouldn't worry about it. But, if you can run faster and prove your time, then you will be in a faster corral which will buy you more time.

Note: This is for the Wine and Dine (they don't have it posted for the Princess 1/2 yet), so adjust the dates accordingly

If you believe you will finish the Half Marathon in less than 2 hours and 45 minutes, proof of time is required for start corral placement. Please provide proof of time at the point of registration.
Proof of time should include name of race, year, distance and time finished (i.e. 2010 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon - 2:25). If you do not have a proof of time to submit, list N/A at the point of registration. Half Marathon proof of time must be from a race 10K or longer. All forms of proof of time must be from a race after July 1, 2009. If you do not provide proof of time you will be placed in the last start corral.
If you do not provide proof of time at the point of registration or acquire it after you have registered, then email this information to disneysports@trackshack.com before August 1, 2011. After August 1, 2011 you will need to bring proof of your estimated finish time to the Runner Relations booth at the Expo if you wish to have your start corral placement changed. If you listed a race result as proof of time when registering online, then you do not have to do anything further.

Good Morning!

Oh I'm not worried about time and I'm not even going to try be faster then 2:45, but figured since I'm running a 10k in Nov. might as well see how I do!

I figure I'll run on the treadmill in the Winter, but when its grey and cloudy the motivation just isn't there. But I'm hoping the Navy will answer our prayers and that this will be our last Winter here and by next March I'll be in Jacksonville, FL! :rotfl:

I am just starting, too. I am 100lbs overweight but I can walk a 16 minute mile so I am not sweating the time. Time yourself walking & I bet you will be more confident.

Just finished W1D2! I started faster then I had planned and started getting out of breath. I caught myself soon enough and was able to slow down, before it got bad. :rockband: Drum roll, please! :rotfl: I did 1.9miles in 25min!!! Not sure how my legs will feel tomorrow, but right now I feel great! :goodvibes

Hope everyone had a good day!

That's a great time!

One thing that has helped me is strength training on my non-running days. I'll do weights or yoga or take a BodyFlow class (combo of pilates, yoga and tai chi). That has helped me a ton. My legs don't give out on me or are as tired after I run. My parents are retired track coaches and they always made weight training a part of their athlete's workouts.

Great job Renee!!!!!

I need to run down to the basement and hit the treadmill. I finally have a day that I'm not running around like crazy grabbing kids.

Thanks for the timing info Buffy. Today was an off day, but I did go to Zumba this morning. I feel like I'm getting more coordinated with it. Tomorrow is w1d3.
