:cool1:

I've got two weeks until we take vacation and I'm going to continue to do my hour a day on the elliptical. As soon as we get back from vacation, I plan to start the couch to 5K program.

I'm in for the Princess Half (probably)! I'm a new DIS Mom (not a new mom, new to the DIS Mom's thread), but it's not my first Disney race.

This is my second Princess, and I've also completed 4 WDW Half Marathons.

I'm deciding between another WDW Half and my 2nd Princess, but I think the Princess has a lead in my mind right now -- I won't freeze doing the race, and I'll get to start in an earlier corral, plus I really love the medal and the feeling from the entire weekend is so empowering!

Maria :upsidedow

Worfiedoodles, I've added you to the list! It looks like we're up to possibly 4 DisMoms. :cool1:

Well even though there are other threads out there for the race, I'm in!

The whole family (6 of us) is doing the Wine and Dine 5K, and I hope to do the Princess half with DH in 2012.

I just did my first Disney/First ever race. DS14 and I did the Everest Challenge.

Jenn,
When you get back from Vacation please join us on the Couch to 5K thread! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2692784&page=12

Today I started couch to 5k! It went pretty good. My quads are a bit sore but I was mostly worried about my knee and shin splints acting up. NO shin splints :cool1:. Once I get those I can barely walk for a few days without being in pain! Glad to know my orthotics are still doing their job!

Now I guess I had better start an air fare fund to get to WDW in Feb! I'm sure as heck not going to run from NJ to FL!

We'd pick you up in MD... If you make it that far! ;)

Run Forest Run!!

:rotfl::rotfl:

I was going to start couch to 5k today... but the sun won yesterday and now my knees and shoulders are burnt and sore. (this is about what color I am :rotfl:) I'm going to wait till this evening and see if it feels any better, but right now I couldn't imagine having to put a sports bra on!

BernardandMissBianca, how was the Everest Challenge? I want to do it will my DD, but not sure she'd make it.

I started Couch to 5k this a.m. I will probably repeat week 1. I was HORRIBLE! I need to learn to control my breathing. Also, my calves were giving out. In fact, I came home to tell my husband I needed a calve transplant. Thank goodness we went to church last night or I would be miserable kneeling. A fat woman a.k.a. me trying to jog is not a pretty sight. :scared1:

Everest was awesome!! I did it with DS14. The obstacles were easier then I thought and the scavenger hunt was easy since we knew where we were going. The run was ok, I am soooo slow! DS can do a 5K in about 25 minutes but we ended up getting a 46:24 time. Not bad considering I'm not a runner but not great either.
I had a blast though!

As long as DD can maintain a 16 minute pace you'll be fine. And the 16 minute pace doesn't start until the very last team crosses the start line.

Sounds like you need to slow down a bit. Even if that means you jog as slow as most people walk.
LOL at the sight. There is one picture of me from the challenge that is horrible!!! Fat women should not hurdle hay bales!!!!

Oh hurdling hay bales could be bad! :goodvibes

Count me in - I'm currently nursing a fractured bone in my right foot, but hoping to re-start my training in the next few weeks. Looking forward to getting to know other DISmom's.

LOL nah, they were ok, it's just an all "girl" picture. Damn near poked and eye out with them. LOL

The 2nd obstacle was tires, I walked those.

the 3rd was a cargo net which you could go over, under or around. I opted to go over, next time I might choose around! LOL Too many people on the net so it was tough.

I did it! :cool1: I just did W1D1 of couch to 5k... I took it slow based on the posts from the rest of you. I did fairly well and kept my breathing under control. I suffer from asthma, so I'm usually always out of breath doing any type of exercise. I maintained a 15 (almost 16 :guilty:) min mile, so I will really need to pick up the pace as the weeks go on.

Way to Go!!:cheer2:
Last week, my last session on the elliptical, I worked out for 65 minutes. The workout summary told me that I'd covered 4.25 miles. It was quite a workout, but it gives me the motivation to do the C25K program when we get back from our trip.
