My mom used to make scrapple. I put it in there with grits. Both are inedible.

j
I'll just play my copy of THE UNDEFEATED with Mr Mcartney's comments on grits on a loop on the outside TV
DW will eat grits if it has the words "$hrimp and ...." in front of it which are on several menus in the Gulf Shores area. It may be too high brow for Pigeon Forge, though.

And folks think I'm crazy? :sad2:

I live near Pennsylvania Dutch Country, so I will talk scrapple if someone PLEASE tells me what the heck a zinger is? I have googled it and there are about twenty different definitions.

The Zingers I know are the Hostess snack cakes!
Bingo!
Vanilla and chocolate are the originals. Raspberry is in there too, but never my preference.

Basically a snack cake. When it was still under the Dolly Madison name my dad sold them before he went to work for Little Debbie. Really hasn't changed much over the years.

No scrap pieces involved.

Spud a ZINGER is a TastyCake KRIMPET that is full figured and got some TWINKIE filling

Ah, potted meat.

Man, y'all bringing back all sorts of memories from childhood. Might as well bring up Vienna Sausage, which we pronounced "Vi-een-E".

On the scrapple front, doesn't sound like the exact same thing mom used to get but similar. It was known as "souse" or "hogs head cheese". Pretty sure my mom called it "souse" so I'd eat it, never ate it again after they told me what was in it lol

@tiggerdad I'd be proud to sit down and have a bowl of grits with you up there!

Butter only. Tried few other things like sugar, cinnamon but eventually came back to tried and true butter. Goes well with biscuit and an over easy egg.

How do people eat their grits?

I like lots of butter and cheese. Damien likes sugar and butter.
Depends on my mood. Usually cheese though. My mom used to make them with Velveta cheese.

Now there is a second discussion to be had, the type of grits. My favorite is popcorn grits. We usually get a bag at the gristmill in Dollywood.

OMG-now you are telling me that there are actually differnt types of grits? Who would have guessed!! I love learning about different food types in the Untied States.

My husband gets his second covid shot this week, but I have still not gotten an appointment, so trying not to think about the fun all of you are going to have in June.

@cruising spud hope you can get your shot or shoots soon. my folks finally got a appointment to go this coming Friday. I was starting to worry because they are hav more people be eligible and they still were not vaccinated. Now I am hopeful even I will be vaccinated by summer.

I rec'd my 2nd shot on the 9th. I woke up early on the 10th running a fever which never was higher that 100.9. I was either freezing or burning up. Slight headache & very tired. Was in bed most all day, which is not me. I hope everyone will have their shots soon.
