Dishes

Another vote for Corelle. I’ve had it for many years, as did my parents, and we gifted a set to DS when he moved out on his own. I used to have heavy stoneware that chipped and broke easily and took up double the space when stacked in the cabinet.

This was the first brand I was thinking of but figured I'd ask in case there is something new, gonna go look now :) thanks!

Corelle was going to be my suggestion too..comes in a lot of nice patterns, and very durable. I have had our sets for almost 20 years now!

+1 -- double your years and add 9 more for ours

I also have Corelle. Had this same set for about 22 years.

+2 -- double your years and add 5 more for ours

Our Corelle set became part of OUR FAMILY 49 years ago next Thursday, though DW had them in her HOPE CHEST before that DAY

I have solid white Corelle for everyday, and a set of decorated holiday Corelle that has a white base, so I can supplement with the regular dishes if there is a crowd in for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Both sets are more than 30 years old (they belonged to my mom) but they look brand new, even putting the holiday ones in the dishwasher.

I also recommend Corelle. I had a lovely set of Pfaltzgraff many years ago that was so heavy that it literally pulled my kitchen cabinets off the wall. That's when I switched to Corelle.
I will suggest that you not use the heat drying setting on your dishwasher. My daughter has Corelle and when the pattern started to disappear, we found that her DH was using the heated dry. I believe that was causing the problem.

Another vote. I have had Corelle for decades. And due to some packing/storing/moving mix up I was without mine.

Not knowing if I would find them I bought a few pieces of regular dinnerware. And smashed one within a week, by accident.

I looked down at the pieces remaining and thought "Oh! I forgot that is what happens to a dish when you drop it!?!" :rolleyes1:laughing:

The joy of Corelle.

And that day I said That's that and bought a new set of Corelle.

The marketing team there should be loving us!

I got this set - but it is listed at a ridiculous price. I paid $55 (Cdn) in store.

Another vote for Corelle. I remember going to buy our first set with my parents in the 70s at Lechmere Sales in Cambridge, MA. At that time, store clerks were demonstrating its durability by dropping pieces on the floor to show they don’t generally break. We still have that original set in Mom’s house. Today I have a nice white and black set I love.

I'd like to make a suggestion that hasn't come up. Corelle :teeth:

My mother gave me her set 4 years ago. They are from the 80's. I just used them. I think there's 1 plate missing, Dad broke it long time ago.

Bought and had Corelle also the whole time I was married. She still has them.

While Corelle is very durable and usually don't break when dropped but when we built our home, we put in tile flooring in our kitchen. I've dropped a couple of Corelle dishes and they have all shattered on the tile. The home I had before had linoleum flooring and the Corelle did not break. I still would not trade my Corelle for anything else.
