Good morning, all!

DM... I can't believe how late you were online last night! You are normally in bed with your shows by 8ish. I thought middle of the night chatting was my MO! I actually remembered around 11PM that my birth control was gone. :scared1: Had to run ti the 24 hour Walgreens.

Sonya... sorry that Amanda had a rough night. Isn't it lovely how they call and get you worried... then return to their activities like nothing has happened? Avery and Tucker are going to Chicago in 2 weeks with their grandparents for 5 days. I just know Avery is going to be homesick by day 2, or day 3 at the latest. When they sleepover at Grandmother's for more than 1 night, she is always being brought home by day 3 because she is crying. But I generally tend to think the tears are first thing in the AM, and she would be fine if they stuck it out through breakfast and some AM Playhouse Disney. Tucker is definitely the favorite child (only boy out of 5 grandkids) and so they jump at the chance to keep him there without her. :sad2: Oops! Just caught myself venting!

WOW 5 days without kids:thumbsup2 What will you do??

:So whats it called when the child at camp does not get homesick, but the mother is sad:confused3

Well my son is at boyscout camp this week. We took him up there on Sunday. The 3 leaders with them all have cell phones, but they prefer the kids not call home, and no calls in UNLESS its an emergency. They expecially like this rule for the first timers,as my son is. I know he is having a blast up there, but darn, I sure do miss him . Im not use to not having daily contact with my kids. Even when he would do weekend camp outs, his dad would go with him and I could talk to him. We will go up for Family night on Friday. Faith thinks her brother is in the "forest". Well I suppose he is:confused3 . She is confused on why her brother is not here, and why we cant go get him out of the forest.

On another note, today is ELizabeths 8th birthday:banana: :cool1: :woohoo:

I'm not THAT lucky! I will have the kids I keep for 3 of those days. But I will get the weekend! We will probably do dinner and a movie. Too bad I'm broke... or I'd be shopping!

Jackie... was it you that does online surveys to make some pocket change? I remember one of our "regulars" talking about it... but can't remember who. I am signing up for some to make a little extra $$. I read on a post yesterday that someone got a $600 check for her surveys, so I thought I would try it!

Yeah, but those kids go home at night;)

No it wasnt me who did that. I have heard about those online survey things though.

That was probably me. The kids do them too & make a decent amount of money to bring on trips.

. She did say she was impressed with Amanda's ability to turn her tears off and on. Can anyone say Drama Queen? Like DH said if she was in danger or in a bad environment we would go get her in a heartbeat but if she gives it a chance I think she is going to have a great time.

Aren't they ALL "Drama Queens" at one point or another?! It's that "X" gene... :lmao: I hope she feels better as the week progresses. Sounds like the counselors are on top of the situation, so that's a relief. ;)

1.I'm a late-nighter, too, Kari! I don't power down the computer until midnight the earliest! :surfweb:

2.Wow! FIVE days! That's a long time. Too bad you can't take a quick overnighter with Wynn!

3. Vent away, sister!! That's what we are here for!!! :grouphug: I know the feeling - Dana is the second grandchild, first girl. My nephew is 6 mths older and the only boy out of six grandchildren. Dana is sometimes totally ignored, because she's not one of the "babies", she's not the oldest, and because she has enough attention in her life already. In my mother's eyes "Only child" = "Spoiled child"... but it really is NOT the case.. She's just had more opportunities because Bob & I make certain that she experiences things with us. And I think my mother is actually "jealous" for the other grandchildren that have NOT had these opportunities! Anyone who really KNOWS Dana can attest that she is not "spoiled", just a little "old" sometimes for her age! lol
Oh well, was I venting, too?! :goodvibes

Oh boy, do I know THAT feeling!!!! First day of Pre-school.... "Bye Mommy!!!" and off she runs into that big old brick school, with a spring in her step and NEVER looked back....:yay: and there I was left, in the middle of the parking lot, all by myself, thinking, "umm... aren't they supposed to be just a TAD big nervous about leaving their mother?!" ;) I attest it to the fact that I succeeded in raising a confident child. (has NOTHING to do with the fact that each child is different and has their own individual personality makeup... nope.... I'm taking all the credit....and no comments from the peanut gallery.... Mother of the Year Award- here I come. :lmao::rotfl: :lmao: ) Side Note to new readers: I have a DRY sense of humor.

:bday: party: Happy Birthday, Elizabeth!!

Renée

Thanks for the birthday wishes for ELizabeth :)

She informed today that she does not have to do a thing today, because its her birthday:rolleyes: This was in response to "Elizabeth, pick up your toys so I can vacuum"... I let her know that I work on my birthday, and she could bend down and pick up a few toys LOL...kids...where do they get those little attitudes from???:rolleyes1

I'm only on late because I still have my dad's laptop so I was DISing in bed. Now that is the life! Sadly, I have to return it as I have my computer back from the shop ($300 poorer now). No way will I sit at the desk and DIS then. Maybe I can convince my dad to let me borrow it longer...

Could you PM me the sites you/they use? I need an excuse to sit on the computer all day!

3. Vent away, sister!!

1. I knew I had other late night chat buddies... just had a blond moment as to who they were!

2. I have mixed emotions about the 5 days. Tucker has done this sort of thing several times. Avery hasn't been away more than 2 nights... and that was 5 miles down the road! It is going to be tough to send her off on that airplane...

3. They always do things that favor Tucker, but not intentionally. At Christmas, he tends to get more packages... this year she noticed. We were able to cover it up by saying hers more more expensive, but actually they were probably 1/2 the cost. (We don't keep up with money spent on the kids... Christmas AM their "loot" looks to be about the same size of stuff. Presents under the tree are the same number.) Originally, they only invited Tucker to go to Chicago. Avery was invited because we said Tucker couldn't go... not fair to Tucker, but she is now old enough to understand and have her feelings hurt. They are the same way to my BILs 3 girls... oldest and baby are favorites, and middle child is left out. I know BIL has said something about it, as Claire is 8 and definitely notices. OOPS!! There I go again! I get upset, type too quickly, and have to go back and insert letters that got dropped! :lmao:

Avery went upstairs and cleaned her room today without being asked... then stuck out her hand and said "Extra allowance, please!" (They get $2 every Sunday afternoon if their room is clean.) It took everything I had not to laugh! Guess I'll slip her an extra quarter tonight!

Amanda definitely qualifies for Drama Queen status!!

I called the Children's Director this morning and she said that Amanda had a GREAT night...she said that she was laughing & playing last night. Then this morning she was playing volleyball and having a great time. That was at 10:05 am...at 10:35 Amanda called bawling again so much that I couldn't understand her. She wanted to come home, she wasn't having fun! Then I heard the Director tell her it was time to go get ready for Bible Study so she had to go. At 6:30pm she called all happy & normal sounding and asked me if I registered her for school yesterday and if she got a top locker and what team she was on (her school is so large they split each grade up into 4 teams). I asked her if she was having fun and she said "yes, but I might have a fit tonight". I told DH she can pitch all the fits she wants to I'm not going to get her unless she is sick or hurt!! Pre-teens...they can be a 2 year old one minute and a 20 year old the next!!!!! (At least mine can!!)

ETA - I forgot to say that her afternoon activity is DRAMA...hahaha!!! I think she chose the right thing!!

Kari- Love the pictures you posted yesterday!!!! Yall are all so cute!

Happy Birthday Elizabeth!

LizA- So glad she's doing better! Girls do tend to be a little dramatic... I never had those tendencies, though--- Um, yeah right- I'm still dramatic!

Are they flying alone to Chicago? Wow.. I don't think I'm ready to do that and Dana's going to be 14. (I'm such a wuss.)

And I hear ya about the "favoritism"... we tried to make light of it until Dana started to really notice it... kids are smart. Adults can be clueless. My parents don't mean to be malicious, but try to tell a kid that. My dopey father actually said to someone at a gathering recently, "These are my grandchildren, M and C..." and totally ignored that Dana was standing RIGHT with the two of them! grr....

And, I think Avery's spunk warrants at LEAST 50 cents..... :lmao:

Oh... Heavens no they aren't flying alone! My in-laws live about 5 miles from us, and are going with them. BIL and the 2 older girls (youngest is 2) will meet them up there. They did invite us... but we have no vacation left. :sad2: And as for Avery's spunk... that ain't the tip of the iceberg! If I paid out for spunk I'd be bankrupt!

Courtney... love the pic of you and Ryan, too! You both are so photogenic! Speaking of photos... I have been meaning to get to your TR, as I haven't seen it since I was on stage! Are your pics posted now?

Mandy... been meaning to say that I really like your new siggie pic... my favorite of everything I've seen of yours so far. (And that goes all the way back to you with Rascal Flatts! (I think that is who it was, anyway! ;) )

I'm going to slide to the adventures thread and try to catch up. :scared: I'll try to post another day tonight!

Thanks Kari! The pictures will be viewable on Friday--- stupid photobucket!

The newer photos are viewable, but the first several posts aren't.... So..... You only get to slide a few more days (till Friday) before you head on over and catch up!

Thanks Kari. Yeah my first one was Rascal Flatts. It's the only good picture I have of myself from this year.

Oh - I must have missed that somewhere! Didn't realize your inlaws were bringing them for a visit to your brother-in-law's! That makes it a little less "WOW" for me. :goodvibes (and I'm still a wuss - it would probably still be hard for me to do it! lol)
