These are the petsitting rates I looked at when we were considering moving to NC:

Now that I'm looking at them again, it seems there rates have gone way up. I'm also shocked they charge a fee for the initial consultation.

LOL I checked the links before looking at the last line. I was thinking they were awfully greedy (Ark Angel in particular) nickel and diming you to death.

Yes that's what alot of them do. Their base rate seems great until you add in all the extras. Alot of them charge to scoop the litter

Courtney - well, DD & I tried CRAWFISH...she wasn't crazy about them but I thought they were pretty good. A little boy at our table taught us how to eat them. I thought about you the whole time I was eating them!!

I'm so proud of you LizA!!!! At least you TRIED them!!!! That's more than some people can say. I'm so happy that little boy helped you! I would have helped you too if I were there.... But you may have not had many to eat... I tend to eat them quick and they are gone so fast!!! YUMMO!!!

Thought I would let my friends in on this one... today I was speaking with the Disney Youth Group agent who is helping us plan the trip for the high school band.... she gave me 2008 rates... she said they were not on the website yet but should be by tomorrow for all of you who are waiting for 2008 rates...

The one time I considered boarding or a petsitter, it was $16/night for PetSmart or a kennel, and $16/day for 1 lunchtime visit (30 minutes) or $25/day for 2 visits (30 minutes.) I don't know of any boarders in this area that keep them with the family. Lucky for me, my mom takes Star whenever we go out of town.



I never raise my prices for the kids I keep. The way I have increased my prices is whenever a new child comes in, they are quoted the higher price. I have 2 kids that pay $25/day, and 3 that pay $30/day. You could keep your same price for the dogs you already keep, and raise your charge for new clients. Do you advertise? You might could try posting an ad on craigslist.com... especially with the summer vacations coming up.

No I dont advertise. I thought about it. But, sometimes in the summer,or holidays(Christmas, spring break etc..)I get slammed with business. I have as many as 9 dogs here(3 are mine)during my busy time. That is just my regular customers.Plus, I am really comfortable with all my customers, I know all their personalities, and how who acts and reacts to each other etc...

Shhhh...I have actually sorta stole doggie customers from the real pet business. When I started like 12 yrs ago there was an original owner. She had it for about 2 yrs and then sold it. The 2nd owner became a close family friend of mine. Everbody liked the 2nd owner A LOT...Well then the 3rd owner came along, and well she is a space case..not one ounce of business sense at all. She is spacey, forgets to pick dogs up, late a lot on pick ups and drop offs. So theh 3rd ower lost a lot of business. Many doggie customers had my phone number from yrs ago, and would ask if I was still doing it. I told them yes, and we arranged our own deal. They paid less, and I got paid more doing it on my own. I have 6 families that use to belong to the business are now my private customers. I know not very ethical, but they would ask me. These families are happy with how things are as I am always reliable, and trustworthy.
