Welcome disneydance!!!!

That is my dog... Maddie. She's a little snot. But SO cute, right???

Yeah same as mine. She can be a little priss.

Yes it was taken at the Olive Garden on Rt 31... Maggie is a vegetarian so she likes to eat there - my DS doesn't like it though :confused3 ... but it was her birthday so she got to pick the place...lol....

Grandpa passed away shortly after they removed the life support :sad2: ... they think he had a heart attack during the accident... Grandma was driving and pulled into on coming traffic... car was totalled - they had to use the jaws of life to remove them from the car... no news yet on grandma...the folks in the car that hit them are okay though.... thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers...

:grouphug: Still in my thoughts and prayers.

WOWIE.. you charge 50$ a night for the dogs who board at your house??? Is that an average on where you live? I charge $15 a night for boarding at my house. The fancy dog hotels charge around $25 or a little more like the pet hotel at Petsmart...

I charge $30 a day for boarding at my house, and $25 for overnight. Of course... I board the 2-legged animals! :rotfl: Wish I could put THEM in the backyard to poop!

Welcome to Westchester County:rolleyes: Everything is a fortune here. The kennels charge $50 so I charge the same but all the private boarders charge at least $65.

Gosh If I charged $50 a night I could afford to stay on Disney property:lmao:
You must live in an expensive area.
People tell me I should charge more. I have some customers who tip me really well, so I dont raise their prices. For all my customers who dont tip, they got the price increase in Jan 2007

How do the dog hotels compare to home boarding? Do you keep them with your family, or have a kennel? The PetSmart around here is a regular kennel where they stay in small pens most of the time, and are put out to run and pee a few times a day. If you keep the dog with your family, I would charge at least the same as the kennels. When people ask you about your prices, be sure to emphasize that they get more attention and freedom when you have them. I would gladly pay the same, and even a little more if I knew my dog would be with a family instead of in a pen. My dog is too spoiled, and would be miserable without the interaction.

Mocha's "inn" charges $32 a night, plus we pay extra for 3 business walks a day and a private playtime once a day. The bill for five days last time he was there (including a complete grooming - we always have him bathed and groomed the day we pick him up) was $426. Last year when we went to Disney, his bill was $850 !

My college roomate lives in Westchester County. I couldn't believe how much he was paying in rent, and then when he told me how much he paid for his condo:scared1:

I forgot to add, he used to try and talk me into moving out there all the time, even though he was living with his fiance, like I could afford to live on my own out there :-)

It has gotten very expensive to live here. DH & I grew up in this town & our children go to the same schools we did but the demographics have completely changed since then. We seriously considered moving to NC about a year ago but DH's salary would be a third and I would have to start over. We still talk about leaving but it really is not an option at the moment.
Where are you from? I looked at petsitting prices in NC and the dogwalking was comparable to what I charge here.

When they stay here it's almost always one-on-one & they have complete run of the house. We're their family for the week. Lots of pets & play. I should also add that the price includes drop off & pickup so they are home to greet their family when they get back.

I keep my doggie customers in my house, with my own family, They have run of the house. Well some of the dogs come with crates, and I just follow instructions if they are to be crated certain times of the day.

I know I should charge more, but I am a sucker;) I have doggie customers who have never been boarded. I had one customer just call up today and booked three separate dates for me.This is a 12 yr old German shepard who is a real sweetie. Hes old, and doesnt do much except lay around. I havent seen him since before Christmas time. Maybe one day I will raise my prices even more;)

Sorry everyone. I keep forgeting to multi-quote:flower3:

DH & I were lucky. His sister owned our home & she used to rent it out. She lives next door. When DH's mom was diagnoised with liver cancer we were in the process of moving to Dutchess County. So she offered this house to us so we could stay close. DH's mom passed away:sad1: then DH's sister asked if we were interested in buying the house. It's VERY VERY small but has 2 acres. We only paid $100,000 for it (for the rest of the country reading; this is an unheard of price around here) After years of dealing with the building department, they finally approved our 3rd set of submitted plans. We'll be putting in the foundation in the next couple of week. It won't be nearly as big as we wanted but I'll be very pretty once it's done. As soon as we return from WDW 1/2 the house is being knocked down. It should make for an interesting summer.

That's ALL you charge, for that service?! ;) Drop off & delivery! That's terrific!
I'm in Northern NJ, so I definitely understand Westerchester County prices!

The drop off & delivery is to my own advantage too as it rids the problem of waiting around for the owner to arrive. ;)

I do pick up and drop off upon request. I have some people who always drop off their dogs to me,and pick them up. I have other customers who want me to pick up their dogs and take them home. I am pretty flexible;) The more flexible I am, the bigger tip I get :thumbsup2

The one time I considered boarding or a petsitter, it was $16/night for PetSmart or a kennel, and $16/day for 1 lunchtime visit (30 minutes) or $25/day for 2 visits (30 minutes.) I don't know of any boarders in this area that keep them with the family. Lucky for me, my mom takes Star whenever we go out of town.

I know I should charge more, but I am a sucker. Maybe one day I will raise my prices even more;)

I never raise my prices for the kids I keep. The way I have increased my prices is whenever a new child comes in, they are quoted the higher price. I have 2 kids that pay $25/day, and 3 that pay $30/day. You could keep your same price for the dogs you already keep, and raise your charge for new clients. Do you advertise? You might could try posting an ad on craigslist.com... especially with the summer vacations coming up. :thumbsup2

Mandy; Those prices are pretty reasonable. Where the kennels usually get "extra" money is their pickup/drop off times. If you look at their hours, they are only open till noon on Saturday. Most of us probably would need to drop off Friday night & pick up on Sunday giving the kennels 2 extra days to charge the customers.

Karibritt: That's what I do with the dogwalking. I have some for over 5 years now that are charged $15 per visit but they use my services 5 days a week + boarding. Then there are others who are at $17. The new customers & cats are all at $20.

The owner is super nice and it's a nice place.
