I checked out when next year's Columbus Day is and it is the following week (Oct 13). I am still not totally sure if the kids will have the 14th off then. I'm just comparing to the past 2 years and this upcoming year. They have always had the day after Columbus Day off for superintendant's conference day. So, that always seems like a good week to take off. I priced out the Disney cruise for us and it is over $6000 and that's not including airfare. No way. I'd rather spend the money going to Disney itself.

Your probably better off getting two rooms. if you put 2 adults, 3 kids- they give you a family sweet

go to small world vacations, they will give you a no obligation quote (as well as the best/cheapest way to book) plus as a bonus they give you cash back when you book through them (I got a $50 check in the mail last week)

Didn't you take a camera of your own? That is a lot to spend on a photo package. The photos would have to be totally awesome for me to spend that much.

well you pick a package and pre-pay- then choose your photos throught the week

Yes, I have a bunch of pics on the camera, but I won't have a PC till next weekend

Well I called my mom and my mother basically said no and I look at it this way my camera is going to cost me close to $300 so that's money that can be put to that. Plus I'm not a big makeup wearer or that so I wouldn't feel comfortable. I hated getting the drapes down for high school.

I can't ask them. It was a big "to-do" when I asked them to watch Jake for 1 night when we left for Disney. They are wonderful parents with the kids and such but when my dad knows he doesn't want to do something, he is extremely stubborn. And yes, they live next door and it would be no big deal for them, you would think. But my dad keeps saying that he does not want the responsibility. I have to pick and choose my arguments with him carefully as I do ask for favors quite a bit here and there and don't want to screw myself in the end. Ya know?

So is it that they are just not dog people???:confused3

I know what you mean. But if you casually mention that the reason you are staying home and Rob is going with the kids is because of the DOG, would they possibly offer? ;)

It's hard - my parents are very busy with my sister's family, due to my niece being brain damaged and bedridden, so I tend to be very selective of asking for any help. But, it gets frustrating sometimes - because I ask so rarely, and I still get "Well, we'll see what is going on...." Parents! can't live without them, but they make you crazy sometimes!;)

Arent parents funny people?:confused3 I know mine our. Its hard to figure them out. My parents are very generous people with money and such, BUT....only on stuff they deem important....

Ok get this, last summer we took a cruise. We flew into FT Lauderdale the day before to spend over night with the parents. Now my dad hates drivng to the airport. So he rather spend the 50$plus dollars to get us a taxi/van thingy to take us to their condo. A couple yrs before they paid for us getting to their condo and it taking it back to the airport. So my parents dished out about $120(inlcuding tips)on a taxi. Last yr my parents said they would do the same thing, pay for the taxi van to do the same thing. Me and my husband decided to rent a car from airport as we had to drive f to Miami. It was cheaper then getting a cab ride down to Miami the next day. My parents could not understand why we did not take them up on their offer, as they were willing to pay:confused3 I kept telling them it was cheaper to rent a car then add up all the Taxi' fares...My husband "assumed" they would give us the taxi money to put towards the rental car..NOPE.....of course I didnt ask. BUT...it wasnt their idea for the rental car, their idea was for the taxi to and forth so no money was given to us. Its just crazy thinking:confused3

They just don't want to be tied down at any time. I really mean my dad because I think my mom would have no problem but she does listen to him to be nonconfrontational.

Poor Jake is going to be 13 years this coming November. Plus he has seizures so I am only going to do what I am comfortable with at this point. Missing 2-3 nights in the Adirondacks is not that big a deal really. If I can go, great. But it's not weighing heavily on me.

Oh I understand completely. I am a total dog person. I was in a state of panic before Disney because I thought we had nobody to watch my dogs.So will your husband take all 3 kids? If nothing else, you can have a nice quiet relaxing couple of days:thumbsup2 . That is always a vacation in itself. You can do anything you want...go to a movie, read all day etc.. I would look forward to that kind of vacation:)

I'm hoping it's only for 2 nights now that he may take all 3 of them. I have only been away from my boys for 2 days/1 night before and Brookie only for 1 night. So, it will be really strange for me. I was thinking about what I could do alone. Maybe catch a chic flick with my mom. Sleep in......

Of course, if the weather is not good, Rob is not going up at all.

Assuming it tough. I would have asked them right out front kinda like this...

Say, you paid such-n-such for our taxi van last year and you said you would pay again this year, right? Well, after I crunched the numbers for you, would you mind putting the money toward us being able to rent a car? It sure would help us out!

But it's over with now. Next time, ask me how to ask them....

I will definitely ask you next time for money advice;) :rotfl:

Well I have you beat, I have never been away from Faith overnight that is..LOL...I am such a sap, I dont think I could let my husband take Faith and not me. He could take the older kids...heck keep them for as long as possible;) . Right now, Faith's the better behaved of the 3. It is so much more quieter here during the school yr when the older two are in school..
But, if I did have time alone, Id definitely be going to some movies that were not kid rated:thumbsup2 I really miss going to a good movie that is not rated "G"

The 1 night away from Brooke was last year in January when my mom bought Rob & I a night at Embassy Suites for my 40th birthday (which was the last October, another story). My mom slept here so Brooke had her own room. The boys spent the night next door with my dad. So, it was totally comfortable leaving them for just an evening and the night.

Last year Rob took the boys camping (tent & all) but just for 2 days/1 night. It was really strange but I gotta love them cell phones so I could call and do our nightly "smoochy prayers" with them.

Yes! Pics and stories of your trip. We love it. Why didn't you take too many photos?

Maybe because we were just there last June, but we didn't seem to take many this time. We didn't stop much to pose... although, as you can see, DANA LOVES to POSE.....

Here are a few more from the trip -
Our deadly departure delay - Arrive at airport 5 PM for 6:30 PM flight which departs at MIDNIGHT instead. Here's Dana with blanket & pillow, compliments of JetBlue...

Our best meal was in France... I LOVE that place! Our waiter, Basel, (pronouced Basil) was a doll and bantered with Dana all evening. First up, she orders "a Shirley Temple, please"... Basel says, "Beer?" in a delightful French accent... Dana says, "no, Shirley Temple, please" Basel asks, "Martini?" Dana looks totally bewildered, and then Basel bursts out laughing, and said, "you didn't think I understood, did you?!" ;)

For dinner, Dana asked to substitute something for the "Basil mashed potatoes"... Basel said, "Basil?? that's ME! You want me in your mashed potatoes??"
When the dinner arrived, there was a sprig of rosemary on top of the Basil Mashed Potatoes - so I said, "Rosemary? Is that your mom?" Basel looked at me, and then BURST into laughter... (I didn't think I was THAT witty, but BASEL certainly enjoyed the joke!) :lmao:
He was terrific - wrote down the name of the wine Bob had, so that we could purchase it at home - recommended a good champagne for me, and told Dana she HAD to have the crepes!! We had a great evening.

And one more.... the lobby at the Dolphin - we just LOVE staying there... Didn't I tell you SOMEONE likes to POSE?! :goodvibes

Ok, DM... satisfied? ;)
