WHEW!! Finally got through all those posts since Friday night! We will leave here (NC) on Sat AM, and drive to Orlando. We should get there around 7PM. We will stay at an cheapie near the gates, and go have dinner. Then my kids like to shop at the touristy shops on the main drag! We'll get up early on Sun and check in at Coronado Springs, then head over to 1900 Park Faire for breakfast. On the last Sat, we will stay at MK until closing. Then we'll drive back until Jacksonville or so, and get a room somewhere. It makes for a long day... but we want to squeeze every drop of magic out of Disney!

DM- I'm in the same boat as you. We probably will not be back to Disney for a few years. We are wanting to do some other things for a while. The only thing that makes it easier to take... we are planning a Disney cruise for May 2008!:woohoo: Trying to decide between 7 night Western Caribean or 3 night land/ 4 night sea in the bahamas. I know... trying to sneak the world in there!

My favorite ice cream is Heath Bar by Breyers. YUMMO to quote Courtney!

Anyone have an opinion on Alfredo's in Epcot? I am seriously rethinking that ADR, as I keep reading terrible things!

Mandy... never heard of the Disney Welcome center because we come down I 95. :guilty: Would have been a fun stop, though.

There's a cheapie Holiday Inn, I forgot the name but it's not the Nick Suites.

aww that stinks. it was something we enjoyed well besides stopping for dunkin donuts at the welcome center outside of orlando.

I have already priced a cruise for next Memorial Day

Which cruise are you looking at? I am undecided between western and land/sea. My kids are switching to year round school this summer :sad2: so I need to find out when their breaks will be. Then I'll try to plan for a slower/cheaper time!

No, no... can't do Dunkin Donuts. Not when we have a Krispy Kreme bakery 10 minutes down the road. Once you have Krispy Kreme fresh off the machine... you can never go back! I'm drooling just thinking about them!

I don't have either here but there is a Mom and Pop shop I guess you could say that would put Krispy Kremes and Dunkin Donuts to shame. It also has a Popeyes at that one.

I priced the 4 night Carribbean with 2 stops at Castaway Cay. I don't think we are serious yet but it never hurts to start the wheels turning does it?

Year round school is amazing if it's like my old hs. I miss it actually.

I have not eaten at Afredo's but a good friend of mine did in February and they HATED it! She said it was the worst meal they had all week & she was not surprised at all that it is closing in August!

I thought that I had read somewhere that the Disney Welcome center closed a while back.:confused3

Disney still has it listed. It's been a good a few years since I drove down.

My main problems are that by switching to year round, my DS only gets a 3 week vacation, instead of the 12 he earned by going traditional school this year. Also, my DD will be starting kindergarten this year. Her birthday isn't until Oct 8, so she will be 4 when starting school July 9... that extra 7 weeks goes a long way towards being mature enough to go to school, so I am worried about her.

Liz - we are just beginning to look, too. Neither of us have ever cruised before, so I feel very lost when looking at everything. If you have AAA, check the prices through them. The quote I got was over $600 cheaper than the website quote.

That is different than ours.

That is different than ours.

Ours has been traditional, but is changing over to year round for next school year. They will go 9 weeks, then have a 3 week break, then go back for another 9 weeks, etc. Their school year will start on July 9. The cut-off date for the Kindergarteners to turn 5 is Oct 15, a week after my DDs birthday, which is why she will be so young when she starts. DS is going to miss his summer break only because of the transition - after this year he will be getting his 12 week break... just broken down into 3 week segments.

We had it where we started very early August ended before memorial day, going 9 weeks off two weeks. I actually did a powerpoint for speech class why this is beneficial.

I think my kids will do well with year round. Funny thing is that our county is switching 22 schools to year round this year. The parents have filed a lawsuit to stop the conversion. The towns have also filed a lawsuit against the school board. The county commissioners withheld the funds for converting the schools. But the county still insists that they are going ahead with their plan. :confused3 We may not know until the week or 2 before school starts which calendar we will be following. Oh well... I squeezed Disney into the 3 weeks I'm guaranteed to be home... and THAT is what really counts! Now if only Disney would hold off on the Haunted Mansion rehab until we leave, and everything would be perfect!;)

Very interesting... but I'll have to read it better tomorrow. Time for me to go to bed.:surfweb: :faint: That's me falling asleep and out of my chair! :rotfl: Thanks for chatting!

Your welcome, if ya need anymore info I think I got my speech laying around and that still. Night night, I'm a bout to head that way too.

I wish my kids went to year round school. Going on vacation would be so much cheaper. Then we could go off season;)

We have Krispy Kreme, about a 1/2 miles from the house. My kids have ton tours there from school/scouts. YUMMY....I love when they have the sign in the window lit up.That means they have hot and fresh donuts that just came off the conveyer belt:cool1:
