DISers, I need your eyes!

Is this console blue or green? Opinions are split.

My first interpretation was teal or aqua, which doesn't really help you. Could you find other photos online of blue or green consoles to compare it against? I know my car is called green by the manufacturer but it looks aqua most of the time and occasionally has a bluish cast to it. If pushed to choose, I would say green, but I can understand why people might say blue.

Here is a blue console versus a green console:

It looks green to me but yours is probably a blue one that has faded over time. That happens a lot to consoles that are this old, especially given that the N64 is almost 30 years old. I've seen Dreamcast and Gamecube systems suffer from discoloring too.

Not sure if this helps or not. I took two color samples from each console and put them together in Photoshop.
A & B: OP (console in question)
C & D: Blue Console
E & F: Green Console

Based on this unscientific effort, I'd agree with "blue, aged toward green".

But, a couple of other ways that may determine it... the blue console you show has an obviously gray bottom, whereas the green one looks green top and bottom. Were the production versions like that? In which case, does the one in question have a gray bottom or color bottom?

Does the model number or serial number give any clues? There might be a G or a B (or any other letter, combination of letters, or number) that definitively answers the question.

Oh, and you may not want to trust the internet. If you remember, there was HUGE debate over whether this dress was white/gold or blue/black:

Folks on both sides were adamant on what they saw.

I am 100% confident it is a jungle green console. They look darker like that in real life compared to the nice manufacturer photos. The green was much more common than the other clear colors because it was in a bundle with donkey kong for christmas one year. I used to repair and customize N64 controllers on the side. I would be willing to bet you on it. If it's green, send it to me. If it's blue, I'll buy you a green one to go with it lol :P

I assure you it is green. I have one, and many of the controllers. The blue one you posted was a Japanese exclusive with the white bottom half. The usa version of the blue was blue all over so you can't use the bottom half as proof either way. Mine looks just like the one in the picture.

The blue one is harder to find maybe is why he is asking. If you are looking for a blue one and this seems like a good deal, don't get it, it's green. If you just are looking for any colored console and it's a good deal, go ahead and pick it up!

May I ask what difference it makes? If it's an item you want and you like how it looks, does what the colour is called matter?
I'm just curious. I am looking to collect the 4 core N64s - Bondai blue, Grape purple, Watermelon red and Jungle green. Obviously I don't want to buy two blues and no greens.

No smoke grey/black or fire orange? There were 6 colors released in the funtastic clear line, not just 4. Also the blue is actually called ice blue (to help your search)

I'm just aiming for four at the moment. Perhaps in the future I will add orange and smoke to my collection. I currently have blue, purple and red ones - green will be my future one to collect at least for a while. It will also be the most expensive of the four by £50.

Now that is strange, typically the green is the cheapest of all the colored consoles because there are more of them. Either you got a really good deal on the others, you got them a while ago and the prices have gone up, or maybe the one you are looking at is a bit overpriced? I used to comb eBay for deals on these all the time. People listing as the wrong color, listing colored ones for the same price as the grey, etc.

Ah ok I see you are posting in British pounds. The PAL European console colors may be different in rarity compared to the USA. You may be able to score a green NTSC one from the USA for cheaper for your display, but it won't work with your games if you have PAL games
