Actually, you didn't say it about the top 10 "vote me" stage. You kind of implied anyone who joined after the contest started was suspect, even before the top 20 were notified. There's a difference to me, since I joined to have some common conversation, not to get votes - it was too early to even think of that. But it didn't sound at all welcoming, and by that standard, kennythepirate wouldn't even be welcome here!

I'm so glad you changed your philosophy, and that you've been welcoming the people who have joined in the last couple of weeks.

I'm keeping an open mind. Although I have my own favorites right now (people who joined AFTER the contest started) I wouldn't want to say I wouldn't vote for someone who hasn't posted before. I'd want to watch their video, and vote for who I think will be the best CMO. After all, maybe they were like me and never posted before. Maybe they were not sure it was "okay" to do it before the top 10 were chosen.

Anyway, as you've posted before - this process is "interesting" to watch.

Remember that I just came on board recently because Tony B pointed out the thread to me. I refused to join this board last year just to seek votes. I only used the boards that I frequented. The only exception was that I joined Ricky's board to join discussion over there.

I agree with you that we've enjoyed their discussion and friendship. I hope they'll stick around on the message boards for years to come. They couldn't have joined just to get votes at this stage, because there were no votes to get. I guess that D/CB felt they had somehow stepped over the line and perhaps they needed to be reined in??? I'm proud that they were willing to share their excitement and experience with us fans too!

It's funny, because many of these were pointed out by the 07 winners on our private board as some of the best before the 'known 13' came forward.

While this makes me a bit of a hypocrite, I also think signing up on Disney forums just to help gain favor is a little sneaky. Honestly I'd never even HEARD about the Disboards until a week or so ago, when the finalists started coming forward, and I finally joined after quietly lurking for a while.

OK, so I don't remember the point I was trying to make...but I agree with you, even if I somewhat represent the thing I dislike.

And can I just say, my wife is also addicted to the Disboards, and particularly this forum...in fact, she could be reading this later. Hi sweetie. Sorry, I didn't get all the laundry put away...I was busy visiting the Disboards...

Nobody has asked me to pull back on anything. I was under the impression that the contest sponsors were hoping to generate as many mentions for their brands as possible.

However, no need to risk it... so I'll probably refrain from any other actual media discussions (were there to be any) until we get further guidance. I don't see anything wrong with maintaining a discussion here. I'm having a really good time!

I don't think anyone has said too much about the actual contest details other than that we are all nervous... and we all love Disney Parks and would only search for jobs on Careerbuilder.com!

Just an observation...

When I first found my way to the DIS 8 years ago, I "used" other DISers so that I could get as much information as possible when I was planning my first trip to WDW.

Everyone finds their way here for one purpose or another. Whether they chose to stay is another story but I'm guessing that most stay. The DIS is addicting!

When I first signed on the DIS there were approximately 10,000 members. Now look at the totals!!!:scared

If speaking to Brady has led to any contestant having difficulties in their dream to become CMO, you have my sincere apology. I would never do anything to cause harm and invited every person to email Brady as I found them on the net, so as not to create favoritism. I do have my favorites, but I've kept them to myself thus far.

I'm sticking around to keep a discussion with all my new and great friends!
We've talked about losties, made references to old game shows and even shared our griefs lately. What a great place!

If somebody makes the Top 10 and doesn't show up here, it will cast some doubt with me as to their brainpower. What is this? 110 Pages of discussion about the contest? If you make the Top 10 and don't want to be a part of this much passion for Disney and the contest, then I don't know what to do with you!

Like PP said, I was just happy to make my first video and enter...wish I would have done the Jungle Boat/Pirate/Haunted Mansion one but didn't.

Also, thanks for the link to the video of the former winners who were not eligible to enter CMO -- that was really funny!

What will be interesting to see is who from the Top 10 recently or suddenly join the DIS in their quest to get votes!

Whew! Maaaan, that long silence (from all of the semi-finalists) was starting to make me nervous. 'Glad to hear that there isn't some sort of "gag order" in effect - although I don't blame you at all for playing it safe with the press.
