No offense taken or given. I just meant what I said -- I think it will be interesting to see who joins DIS after the Top 20 or 10 are announced. It's a political move in order to get the votes -- is there anything bad or good about that? You decide for yourself. Just reminds me of when the politicians visit the senior center to get their photo taken with someone's elderly grandma and then they never go again.

Wow . . . that's a cynical outlook. Could it be that some people (as has already been mentioned) felt that they had more to learn by reading than contributing and only now feel as though they have news to share? Or perhaps they only found this wonderful community because of the contest and are legitmately hoping to connect with more Disny fans like themselves?

Hey, Justin -- welcome aboard!! I do hope to see the top 20 or top 10 candidates become active members of DIS -- not just to get the votes but to connect with Disney fans, well after the contest is ended.

But to just show up to get votes and then not, as you said, contribute, would be wrong in my opinion. Then again, as I stated before, you can decide for yourself whether that is right or wrong. Doesn't have to mean we will agree about it!

I third what flegal and Justin said about congratulating everyone who submited a video. I'm proud of everyone who entered because in some way it meant you were following your dream and 'doing' something to try and fulfil it (as flegal so well put it). I know a lot of people are disappointed they weren't "chosen" (as I'm sure I would be as well) but even still no matter what happens even if I make it to the ten I like you will still keep dreaming (INSERT DORY VOICE HERE - just keep dreaming, just keep dreaming...) and I like posted earlier I think that really was part of the fun of this contest, for me was getting to have the "what if" attitude - I dunno maybe its just me but dreaming about "what ifs" are just enough ('cause in my "what if" world EVERYONE gets a dole whip float)

Anyhoo sorry I don't check into the boards as often as I would like (its that lurker mentality, pop in once a day and ready away and absorb like a sponge) but;

fletch182 - I submitted my video towards the end of the competition (and honestly I was a little freaked out because I didn't see my video posted until after the submission deadline, but it was a sigh of relief when it did show up)

jennifer6800 I loved your video concept, I know how tough it can be to put together word play i mean I'll admit "literacY" was a stretch in my video...

When you post - we start to know you.
When you start sharing your WDW tips, experiences, stories, etc, we start to love you.

I remember being in history class and learning about carpet-bagger politicians who would "move" to a community just to get votes, then leave their "hometowns" behind when they were elected. I imagine that's what your concern is all about. Totally understandable.

My motives are MUCH less complex. I've got a ton of nervous energy to expend while the clock just ticks S L O W L Y toward my as yet unscheduled phone interview. I googled disney cmo and ended up here, where low and behold, people were talking about the subject that I am obsessing about. I am absolutely not in a position to campaign for anything. (See Boston Globe's book listing on Amazon for Patriots Perfect Season 19-0 book) Half of the Top 20 are going to be cut before the first vote is cast. I don't even know how the voting works at this point.

So, thanks to all for what has been a warm welcome. I plan to be around "all the way to the convention" whether I advance or not. I'm really enjoying the discussion.

Good morning, all. I feel much better today... pity party for myself is over, back to being happy, chipper Disney-loving self again. Hurray!

I'm being bad and leaving work early to go up to WDW this weekend...no hotel stay, since apparently every single WDW resort is sold out this weekend (how can that be?????), so just commuting back and forth from the house -- 3 hour round trip for 3-4 hours in the park tonight, joy oh joy. Any photos I can take to post when I get home each night to cheer everyone up??

So, do you think we've scared off the other 13 of the Top 20??!! I want to see more winning videos, because I want to know what Disney is looking for so I can start planning now if they have another contest in the future! I have a lot to learn, so better to start early!

Justin- there is a character in L'il Abner named Evil Eye Fleagle. I just always thought that was a funny name. Many years ago I was registering for something and every name I chose was taken... I didn't like the "evil" part, so I just thought "fleagle" sounded funny. Where did you come up with Justin?

And iwynlea... Just got back from a DW trip and it was PACKED the whole time.

We planned the trip last minute and were very limited on resort choices. In fact, I think I got the last place in the World. (staying off property is NEVER an option for us). We were stunned by the size of the crowds in late January. I think it may have something to do with the weak dollar making a trip to the US a great option for our foreign friends. A dear CM-friend of ours who works there said that Disney had been surprised too... exceeding their projections by far every day of our trip.

Hi all! Just stopping in to congradulate all the lucky and deserving winners. I can't wait to hear about your adventures in this process. I told my kids last night that we didn't get picked. They were bummed, but we had a lot of fun making the video and showing our friends.

I have some 2 cents on the 'joining the boards just because of the contest' thing. The contest is what finally got me to register and post. I come here everyday and read (since 2004), but I have never participated. I was so excited about the CMO contest that I wanted to be a part of this community not just lurk! I have a feeling a lot of other people were the same way.

So I hope a DIS'er wins - new or old!

I know I am new here and this post will most likely tick some off but I frankly do not care. After carefully watching these top 20 vids I noticed something. They did not do what was asked of them for their video. They did not show Disney magic they showed professionalism and their talents as radio and broadcasters. The contest was rigged to get professionals and not real people who truly carry the magic of Disney in their hearts. I was looking through the site and saw this dude who really seemed like he had it. Let me know what you think.
