Diser's for CMO!

I'm excited for all who did win and can't wait to see them all and hear all the details--I wish EVERYONE could win!!!

I didn't enter, but my brothers did. They are the twins. They knew going in that they would most likely be disqualified because there are 2 of them. But they wanted to enter anyway. I know someday, they'll be at Disney. They've dreamed about it forever--even having the same dreams on the same night as each other-- to the amazement of us all.

Anyway, it's been fun and I can't wait to see it all continue to unfold! Everyone did their best, so don't feel bad guys. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I respectfully disagree on some.... but that is a matter of opinion. When it all comes down to it that is all it is... "opinion".

Sure, being a judge is always subjective to an opinion. Some people may have loved my entry last year and some may have hated it. That's what makes America great, we can share our opinions freely.

I think that everyone who did a video should be proud of themselves and their work. I can also understand the disappointment because I know that you love Disney as much as I do. Some may even argue that you love Disney more than I do; but I'm not out to make my love for Disney a contest. I never expected to be chosen for the Top 20 and I consider it a great honor and I am humbled just to get this far. I still have to make it to the other side of the phone interview.

As far as the "music" in the video, I'm pretty sure they meant soundtracks up and under that ran the length of the 60 seconds. I'm sure if I was in violation that I would have been disqualified by now, don't you? I didn't realize that I would make so many enemies by being chosen to move on. So I would like to apologize for chasing my dreams...

To those who feel shafted, I’m sorry! :sad1:

Warning: I’m going to play “devil’s advocate” for a moment, so go easy when you flame me! ;)

Is it possible that the folks at Disney didn’t intentionally set out with only one “look” that they absolutely knew they were destined to pick: “Gee, folks! We’re going to have a contest, and we’re only going to consider the apps that roll in from clean-cut, white, thirty-something men…”
Quite possible... I guess I looked at it that they were casting another "role" just like in a movie. If the hero should be dashing, blond/blue eyes, and muscular.... then the overweight black/green eyed guy is out of the running. But being a company of Disney's stature, I don't think it would have gone over very well had they put in the rules "only Aryans need apply".... lol!!!! I'm totally kidding about the Aryan thing....

Now back to your regularly scheduled program: "Rabbit stew anyone?" (Funny post, HauntedMansionFan! Twisted... But funny! )
I try.....

Hey as long as someone mentioned music - there's something that's been bothering me. The rules stated no music or the video would be disqualified.

As I watched the posted videos, I felt so bad for people who were singing, not realizing that would be counted as music.

Well...Trippy's video has his kids singing, and he made the cut. How is singing not music? If you start singing a song on a tv show, even without music, the show has to pay for rights.

I'm glad that's not what elimitated some people I liked, but I sure would have wanted to know we could sing a capella.

Yeah, that "music" thing was a sticky point last year too. Some used sound effects and that seemed to be okay. 1 person for HM even made it to the finals with a music background and was up for a couple days before it was unceremoniously pulled down.

I think as it relates to the earlier post about 100 mgs vs 50 mgs, I'd probably have a sticky point with Careerbuilder on that one. Last year the rules called for "views" then when the contest went live it said "views and votes" and then we asked for judgment and were told it was "votes only." Pretty confusing.

It's been interesting to listen to the discussion going on over the CMO contest. It sure brings back a lot of emotions from last year's contest -- a lot of ups and downs and nervous moments.

Good luck to all the finalists and nice job to the rest of you. Be proud that you took the initiative and entered! Hopefully, you had fun doing it.

Oh, and DSNY4ever -- I really liked yours and I am shocked that you didn't make it to the finals.

I remember that being a point of contention that was discussed on the boards last year.

Thanks for the kind words! I think the only time in my life I was considered "slick" is when I was changing oil and it ran down my arm. :rotfl2:

************** and kennythepirate:

I think your videos from last year are what gave a lot of us a different idea about what was being looked for in this contest.

They were fabulous because your love of Disney, specifically the particular rides, came shining thru. The videos were very well done, and genuine, but they weren't "slick". They seemed to match who you are. (Oooh, hope you're not offended I don't consider you slick!)

I guess the standard you set last year required them to up the ante and require even more this year!:)

You all made a great video for the CMO job this year, too!

Thanks we had a lot of fun making our spoof video. One thing that this year's contest will miss is that we made such great friends, with the entrants, finalists and winners.

I for one loved your video and reading your detailed account over at Tellnotales.com.

I just hope that whoever makes it to the top three and especially the CMO provides us with enough juicy details to let us live vicariously through them, no matter where they post them (although it'd be easier if the cMO would post it all on here).

Just remember that the magic ain't over until ya die. At least we tried and we've been fortunate enough to not have to go through this whole process alone. That being said, I'm now going to spend the next year or so learning as much about computer/video special effects as possible so that I can blow the competition out of the water with my proverbial cannon if they have another contest next year. pirate:

As it relates to "The Disney Look" that refers to things like hair, beards, earings and the like. Clean cut, yes. White, no, Disney doesn't hire based on race. 30 something, I doubt it they had people of all ages in 2007. We weren't required to have "The Disney Look" in 07. Many had beards in Haunted mansion and Pirates (which is okay for look at Disney btw)

Just search The Disney Look on google and it will show you in the college program what they expect.

To those who feel shafted, I’m sorry! :sad1:

I’m guessing that they cast the net wide, so to speak, because they didn’t want to limit themselves. They wanted to see what was out there and to allow their large Disney fan-base (which sounds like it’s dwindling by the minute ;) ) to have some fun in the process.

That said, only Disney knows the specifics of the job that the company has in mind for its CMO winner. And, as Justin M said, “I'm sure they have a 'look' in mind based on the specific responsibilities that they know they want this person to fulfill.”

One thing I am sure of: You can bet the judges are looking closely for specific qualities that are necessary for performing those responsibilities. Those are the “non-negotiables” on the judges’ checklist.

In the process, I’m sure that certain biases may have entered into the picture. (For example, I’m not sure if I’m the only one, but I always envisioned any female candidate as sort of an older, pleasantly plump matronly type. ‘Kind of an extension of Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother, I guess. It’s a good thing that I wasn’t on that panel, huh? I might have ruled out disneydaisy. ...Very cute video, btw! You have a lot of charisma! :thumbsup2)

Regarding any abundance of on-air personalities, I’m thinking that it’s definitely an advantage for an applicant to do radio/voice-over work. That job title says it all: In just a few words, it’s understood that the person has made a career out of public speaking.

Okay. I’ve probably said too much… :flower3: I realize you probably already know all of this anyway … ;) As several people have admitted, you're simply working through the disappointment.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program: "Rabbit stew anyone?" :lmao: (Funny post, HauntedMansionFan! Twisted... But funny! ;) )

I'm still holding out hope that my man The Don made it into the top 20!

The Don feels confident based on queue line exit polls that he took key delegates in red, blue, orange, yellow and white states last night. His message to eliminate the rats in current leadership and "Trust the Duck" seems to have hit home with his constituency. He looks forward to upcoming primaries and is confident that he will be given the opportunity to promote his bill to the people.

Vote The Don in '08!
